So govt finally coughs it up, the whole "it'll cost £100 billion to nationalise the water industry" is totally bogus, complete and utter made up nonsense.
As we always knew, no matter what ministers claimed, @Defra today has finally published their methodology confirming that their calculation does indeed use @Ofwat's factious, made up, notional value for the water industry, their regulatory capital value, you know, the one that claims that @thameswater is worth a staggering £21,008,425,000. What a complete and utter shambles.
No doubt ministers will be keen to apologies for wilfully misleading the public.

“I'm not going to focus on ideology." It would cost £100bn to nationalise water companies and the government would have to take that money from the NHS and education, Environment Secretary Steve Reed tells @krishgm

"Rachel Reeves’s new adviser has links to Thames Water lobbyists."
Yep you read that correctly, Jenny Scott, who will now work at the Treasury, will continue her role as a partner at Apella Advisors — a firm she co-founded — that lobbies on behalf of Thames Water. Yep and I did not make that up.

"Thames Water could be sold to a Chinese firm after public rescue."
So we are possibly about to sell @thameswater to CKI more often known as CK Infrastructure.
Would that by any chance be the same CKI that is owned by CK Hutchison Holdings who in turn own about 70% of the Kelda Group who in turn own, well knock me down, Yorkshire Water?
And would any of those companies by any chance be any of the cabal of companies making up the Kelda Group who apparently "borrowed" £940 million in cash from Yorkshire Water and not necessarily telling the regulator Ofwat exactly what it was up to? Hmm? 🤔
Enquiring minds need to know.

"Feargal Sharkey just nailed the £100bn water industry nationalisation lie."
And here's the thing, it is a lie, a complete and total fabrication, none of it based on what anyone with any grasp of the situation could even remotely recognise as reality.

Oh look, yet another water company fined for polluting a river and killing fish and does any of it make a blind bit of difference?
Of course not.
Now what about that "oh but we're going to send water company executives to jail", any chance of that happening?
Of course not.

"Thames Water boss keeps bonus despite missing target after restatement."
I used to ask a simple question. What do you have to do as a water company to have govt revoke your operating licence.
I'm gonna add to that. What do you have to do as a CEO to get your bonus taken back?

"Mapped: The summer holiday beaches flooded with sewage. There are 139 coastal locations at which sewage has been released over past two days."
The extraordinary world we now live in. Once upon a time in the run up to the school holidays newspapers would be full of the best tourist spots to visit, fish & chip shops, theme parks, theatres, museums, day trips with the kids, now it's beaches to avoid because they're covered in sh*t.

"£104bn of water industry investment will come from bill payers, environment secretary concedes."
And there we finally have it, there is no "£104 billion of private sector investment". Question is how long has the SoS known this and why has he kept repeating that myth?
Well done @SamCoatesSky for getting to the truth.
