@alansritchie @dave43law I agree. Tax should be lowered across the board. This meddling with the details is how we got into such a massive and complicated tax code. So maybe not for same reasons, but we agree.

Why is it good that some people are made redundant and replaced by other people working longer weeks but paying less tax?

The other issue is the 40hrs - Reform are stuck in the 70's - very few people work 40hrs a week contracted 35hrs - 37.5hrs is the norm. Destroying job creation is the other issue. You employ 20 people..... pretend that they work the 40hrs and 5 of them do 1hr overtime a day..... 25hrs a week or 100hrs a month - that is the equivalent of 2.5 full time jobs LOST

@dave43law @wildkippers Yes very true. I am contacted for 35h/wk I have done as many as 100h/wk for the public good but the employer sees that as a saving, unsustainable as after years of over work I have been close to burn out for a year or two and can't sustain. The result, productivity drops

Labour has announced that the 5p cut on fuel duty will be extended for the rest of the year. I know a lot of my constituents are feeling cost-of-living pressures, so I’m pleased this government is keeping pump prices down in response.
