@afneil What we really need is a cheap anti drone weapon. We are building very expensive kit to deal with very cheap kit. A mobile effective air defence weapon to deal with drones is what is required.

The T45s are destroyers and have anti-ballistic missile capabilities. We were meant to have 12. We built six. No more after 2013. They have been bedevilled with problems. We are currently building six T26s. None yet deployed. They are sophisticated anti-sub ships with only limited anti-missile capabilities. Replacement for the T45s — the T83 (I think that’s the number) is over a decade away.

It looks like this year’s harvest will be catastrophic. That should be a worry for anyone who eats food. If a disaster on this scale had befallen any other industry, there would be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth.
