I've never encountered a red grouse as aggressive as this little chap! I was obviously on his territory.

@philofthemoore Adidas made a fell shoe about 15 years ago; the "Swoop". It was reasonably popular, more so than Salomons at the time.

@TrailRunningMag I'm not offended by them either way. I'll use them if I think I need 'em. You won't see any of the top boys using them in any fell races, it wouldn't be worth the abuse they'd get, haha! I'd consider them for an ultra, but nothing less.

@fellrunningguid I can recommend some specific exercises to improve your sucking muscles, Dave.

I've been experimenting with using a water filter on some long runs rather than a softflask. Much lighter to carry - although I think I need to strengthen my sucking muscles! #fellrunning

I’m not concerned about the cuts where I fell . But the footprints on my back where folk trod on me whilst prone are a concern. Pleased it wasn’t XC! #spikes
