Andy Burnham will stand anywhere to get a seat. This expensive by-election is all about his own personal ambition.

How about all political parties stand down for Labour! We should just get rid of democracy and unite around Labour’s entitlement to win power without having to convince enough voters. Especially in contests caused by its own failures and internal machinations!

Completely irresponsible. I despair.

I’m an immigrant who’s lived and worked in the UK for 16 years. I have a North American accent and I’m white. I’ve never once been told to ‘go back’ to my ‘shithole country’ or to ‘stop stealing jobs from British people’. You’re not concerned about immigration. You’re racist.

Interesting to see Jairo Riedwald's name on the list of released players amongst the retained list this morning. Trying to get some clarity on the situation after very concrete signals post-season that he would be sticking around next season and maybe beyond. #sufc

Look at these utter ignorant fools! Fly camping above the Kirkstone Pass Inn 😮🤯 It’s been reported to @WandFCouncil but who knows if anyone will head out to educate and enforce Public Space Protection Orders within a UNESCO World Heritage Site? #lakedistrict #countrysidecode My fell running pal sent me these images infuriated asking where are the rangers. Fact is such inconsiderate and irresponsible behaviour needs reporting. Hopefully, they’ll be approached with care and education. It’s a helluva tent to carry up that steep part of the fell above the Kirkstone Pass Inn! I’m sure the guests staying in the boutique accommodation holiday let by the pub will appreciate such views. I wonder if it’ll be abandoned on the fellside tomorrow? How much litter is left behind? Maybe fire pits that harm the land? 🤔🤔

@caim67 @tagteamchampion @JamTarts Under the law, the fan assaulted him and he defended himself with reasonable force. The fan broke the law entering the field of play, ran towards him shouting at him. That's assault. You can assault someone without touching them.

@ffstottenham @JamTarts To be fair, he could be pointing to ask if they're wanting to come back out to acknowledge their fans

@JamTarts You can clearly see from the footage that the police officer is escorting the players off the pitch, while the referee, Don Robertson, proceeds to ask whether they’re coming back out. This match was abandoned on police orders - it was not finished!

This is vile, but because it’s targeted at Muslims, the Met Police don’t care. Imagine if a pro-Palestine march had someone on stage mocking Orthodox Jewish women.

This is disgusting. No different from the anti Jew marches and rallies of the 1930s.

The police would’ve arrested a pro-Palestine protester if they had held up a placard saying the exact same thing about Judaism.

The idea it’s the Greens “risking a Reform win” when it was Labour who forced a by election for a seat they already had is laughable actually

The Greens have to campaign for this IMO. stand down to let Burnham in and we get more neoliberalism. More of the same. Same problems, same 'solutions' that don't work. Burnham losing to green OR Reform may finally wake Labour up that things will never go back to how they were.
Pippa Crerar@PippaCrerar

Greens are going to campaign for the Makerfield byelection, complicating Andy Burnham’s potential route back to parliament. But Caroline Lucas, the party’s former leader, posted: “I hope this isn’t true. There are times when it’s more important to put country before party. This is one of them”.
