hermes agent is already the best on local models. but i'm working on more edges to make it fly even harder. before that, if your agent keeps crashing on local inference here's what to check: > max_turns: default is tuned for fast frontier models. bump from 30 to 50. slow local models need more breathing room per agentic loop. >gateway_timeout: raise from 600 to 1200. local inference at 12-17 tok/s will timeout silently and look like crashes. > context accumulation: auto-reset is off by default. your session grows until you /reset. long convos choke the agent. reset between major tasks. if you're running anything under 20 tok/s locally, these three settings are the difference between "broken" and "flying." tune your config before you blame the tool.

NEWS: xAI now lets Grok subscribers connect directly to Hermes Agent, an open-source agent platform. Hermes Agent runs on computers with long-term memory that stays active across sessions. It connects to WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram and Signal. Users can pick Grok as their AI provider during setup and sign in through their browser using xAI OAuth. This expands what Grok can do beyond just chatting by letting it work as a persistent AI assistant across different messaging apps.

Paperclip + Hermes Agent turns AI agents into an actual team. Paperclip manages roles, budgets, schedules, monitoring, and failures. xAI has confirmed that the Hermes agent Grok integration will soon be available to Premium+ users as well. Right now it is only working for standalone SuperGrok subscribers (the paid subscription tier). Premium+ users who thought it was included have been hitting 403 errors. @milichab from xAI just replied that the rollout to Premium+ is coming shortly. Great move, this makes the Hermes + Grok combo accessible to a much wider group without needing the actual SuperGrok tier if you have Premium+.
