The passage of the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act is a victory in the ALL IN: Wellbeing First for Health Care Coalition’s effort to protect the health and well-being of nurses, physicians and all health care professionals. This is just the first step. As a proud member of the ALL IN Coalition, ENA now urges Congress to fund the programs created by the act to drive improvements in the systems where health workers are educated, train and practice. For too long, nurses, physicians and other health care workers have suffered from burnout and poor mental health while giving their all to deliver patient care. This act funds programs that support the mental health of the people who are there for us every day and offers evidence-based guidance to facilities to address operations that contribute to burnout. This is the kind of support that can keep a nurse at the stretcherside. It can save careers and it can save lives. I encourage everyone to contact their lawmakers and urge Congress to provide $45 million for Lorna Breen Act programs in the next fiscal year using the Fund Lorna Breen Act Programs Action Alert. — ENA President Dustin Bass | #ENATogether drlornabreen.org/fundlba/

Please congratulate and give a warm ENA welcome to the 2026 Emerging Professional Liaison, Spencer Jackson. Spencer became involved with ENA after attending Emergency Nursing 2024, where the passion and collective impact of emergency nurses ignited his desire to be more engaged with the association. He now participates in Texas ENA committees for trauma, pediatrics, and bylaws, policies, and procedures. He is the 2026 Staked Plains ENA Chapter president-elect. Spencer joined the December ENA Board meeting and orientation this week to help prepare him for his role in 2026. Welcome, Spencer!

Continuing its efforts to ensure nursing is included in the definition of professional degrees, ENA endorsed a letter to the U.S. Department of Education authored by a coalition of lawmakers who support the inclusion, which would allow nurses to access adequate federal loans to pursue graduate degrees. apnews.com/article/nursin…

@clarketucker As your constituent, I support HB1639 providing funding for the Arkansas teleSANE at UAMS, a critical role in providing expert medical care, forensic evidence collection, and trauma-informed support for sexual assault survivors across our state.

DJI Pocket 3 has a big new firmware, and it's got a pretty sweet new feature. I've been using this camera for about a year now, so surprised to see them add this big of a new zoom feature in. Full side-by-side comparison: youtube.com/watch?v=ax4do7…

As an Emergency nurse, we should never have to fear for our lives in order to care for patients! This is never acceptable! #nosilenceonviolence #endworkplaceviolence
ENA@ENAorg

After the shooting Saturday at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York County, Pennsylvania, and the brutal attack of a nurse this week in one of my own facilities, I feel sorrow and concern for my fellow nurses, but I will not give up on the work we have to do. All too often emergency nurses and other health care professionals are injured by patients or their companions around the U.S. and around the world. Just this month: • A police officer was killed and a nurse, doctor, another hospital employee and two other law enforcement officers were shot in Pennsylvania cnn.it/4hVaSv2 • A Florida nurse suffered multiple broken facial bones and possible loss of both eyes bit.ly/4gPtkUt • A Kentucky nurse was punched, dragged and stomped on bit.ly/4hMOvaX • Two Chicago emergency room staff members were stabbed bit.ly/4hW4ljx • Two emergency department nurses were punched and scratched in Pennsylvania bit.ly/4gTj11B Violence against health care professionals is a multifaceted problem that requires multifaceted solutions. That’s why the Emergency Nurses Association continues to advocate for legislative and regulatory changes that support our positions in pursuit of a world where every emergency nurse is fully supported to provide the highest quality care and promote injury prevention. That means safe and secure work environments, training and prevention efforts, the highest prosecution for assailants, and safe access to appropriate care for all patients. As devastating as these events are and the increased frequency at which they are occurring, we must stand together and continue to speak out and push for our safety and the protections our colleagues, our patients, and our communities so deserve. I stand with you in the fight and in your service. ENA President Ryan Oglesby | #ENATogether
