A mic drop moment @ycombinator tonight @sama just offered $2M in OpenAI tokens to EVERY YC startup in the current batch in exchange for equity Just like Yuri Milner offering to invest in every startup back when Sam was a YC partner I can't wait to see what's unlocked when you let the most driven, creative and formidable founders tokenmaxx

In golf development, it’s a shame that the “Ohoopee model” has gained significant traction while the “Scottish model” is only rarely pursued.

Pleasant surprise this morning to have an email from @CrailGolf saying my waitlist number had come up and offered membership to the club. Incredible honor to be part of the 7th oldest club in the world and an Old Tom design. Fife roots are taking shape nicely. See you in June.

BIG things brewing in Austin My dad and grandpa taught me golf on $25 munis. Rock hard greens. Worn-out range balls. Hot dog at the turn. For years I thought the point was to get "good". Break 80. Stop slicing. Took me 20 years to realize what golf actually is... It’s about the people next to you. The hours with your dad no one can interrupt. Laughing about your buddy 3-putting from 5 feet. The pint of Guinness after the round. Golf, above all, is about the joy of being with others. So I'm saying goodbye to building tech unicorns... ...and building a new kind of golf club in Austin, TX. Introducing The Mackenzie Club. The world's greatest upscale private indoor golf & social club. ⛳ 8 TrackMan simulators (120+ world courses, year-round) 🍽️ Full restaurant & craft cocktail bar 💪 Golf fitness & performance training 🧖 Sauna, steam room, cold plunge 🌅 Outdoor terraces with Hill Country sunsets 🏌️ Puttview Putting lab 💼 Executive offices and workspaces 🤝 A curated membership of people who love this game Not a sim bar. Not a $150K country club. A place for people who take golf seriously, and don’t take themselves too seriously. A place that feels like coming home. Opening late 2026 in West Lake Hills, Austin Send this to your golf nut friend. Waitlist link in the first comment.

@NWischoff Given it’s a sample size of 30 companies for each group (as u mentioned in another comment) it seems hard to glean anything from these numbers. Also I suspect you mean the spring ‘25 batch (x25). Nevertheless appreciate this type of analysis and the discussion that ensues.

Some data on S25 YC Batch vs non-YC early stage companies also raising money right now. These are from companies our firm has met over the past two weeks. Quite the premium.

@AndyTFE @garrett_TFE If you a choice as an obstacle, a natural land form or a bunker which would you choose. I think many courses today could lose 3-40 bunkers and be better. Especially green side

Great place to kick off an English golf trip with Huntercombe, a 1901 Willie Park Jr. design west of London on relatively tame land. The greens are decidedly superb here (to be expected), and the carnivorous grassy pots are a wonderfully unique hazard. Superb!

We asked @m_franceschetti (CEO @eightsleep) about Pod 5 and the future of sleep technology. "We are becoming one of the largest sleep labs in the world." "The two coolest buckets of sleep tech to me are environmental controls and body scanning." "We want to control air, oxygen, light, noise, sound, sense etc during your sleep. And then we will scan your body every single night to detect if you are developing certain health conditions before you know."

@mwseibel Truly amazing. And inspiring to read all of the comments about how you impacted founders. I was blessed by your openness to trying new prototypes, commitment to help (countless times), and for always speaking your mind, clearly and consicely. Can’t wait to watch what u do next.

Today after 12+ years at Y Combinator I’ll be transitioning to a Partner Emeritus position. This role allows me to continue to do office hours with the 1000+ companies I’ve worked with in the past decade while giving me the free time to explore new adventures. It also means that the w25 batch was my last batch funding new YC companies. The next adventure I’m excited to pursue (after taking the summer to relax) is how I can help government better serve its citizens. Thank you to the countless friends who have been pushing me in this direction for years. Government was the passion of my youth and I’m excited to reengage. Thank you to @ycombinator @paulg and @jesslivingston for changing my life.

No AI tutor will train math better than the way my dad (MIT PhD) came up with for me: After I finished a problem set, he'd review, make ZERO markups ... then tell me how many I got wrong. I'd have to go over step-by-step until I found errors on my own. Taught so much discipline

8/ Ultimately, there’s no implicit judgment here—just recognition. Understanding ambition as something inherent yet moldable, costly yet rewarding, helps us better support those who strive for extraordinary things.

1/ I’m coming to understand it’s not actually possible to significantly inflect someone’s baseline ambition. You can sharpen it, bring it into focus, and harness it—but fundamentally changing how ambitious someone naturally is hard. My job is to recognize the hidden ambition

@AdamMGrant I believe this. Anything long I prefer to read on paper. Which is odd because I publish essays online. I suppose I should publish a new paper book of them.
