@NWischoff Given it’s a sample size of 30 companies for each group (as u mentioned in another comment) it seems hard to glean anything from these numbers. Also I suspect you mean the spring ‘25 batch (x25). Nevertheless appreciate this type of analysis and the discussion that ensues.

Great place to kick off an English golf trip with Huntercombe, a 1901 Willie Park Jr. design west of London on relatively tame land. The greens are decidedly superb here (to be expected), and the carnivorous grassy pots are a wonderfully unique hazard. Superb!

Today after 12+ years at Y Combinator I’ll be transitioning to a Partner Emeritus position. This role allows me to continue to do office hours with the 1000+ companies I’ve worked with in the past decade while giving me the free time to explore new adventures. It also means that the w25 batch was my last batch funding new YC companies. The next adventure I’m excited to pursue (after taking the summer to relax) is how I can help government better serve its citizens. No AI tutor will train math better than the way my dad (MIT PhD) came up with for me: After I finished a problem set, he'd review, make ZERO markups ... then tell me how many I got wrong. I'd have to go over step-by-step until I found errors on my own. Taught so much discipline

1/ I’m coming to understand it’s not actually possible to significantly inflect someone’s baseline ambition. You can sharpen it, bring it into focus, and harness it—but fundamentally changing how ambitious someone naturally is hard. My job is to recognize the hidden ambition

@AdamMGrant I believe this. Anything long I prefer to read on paper. Which is odd because I publish essays online. I suppose I should publish a new paper book of them.

We learn more from reading on paper than on screens. 54 studies, 171k people: we process print more deeply than digital content—as long as it's informational rather than purely narrative. The paper advantage holds across ages and has grown over time. Long live physical books.
