Bruce Harrell swept every unhoused person out of downtown and pushed them into the CID. It feels like an explosion overnight. Dont be surprised if this is a last ditch effort to set up Tanya Woo as the hero.

This isn’t a “pivot to video” for the publications. It’ll have a separate editorial that will complement the other brands within this newly formed family. This city has been my home since leaving Hawai and ready apply everything i’ve learned at VICE/Cut to making this thing work.

@JoshuaKissi Was talking to a friend at coffee this morning about this, I i think also people aren’t moving to big cities with dreams and ambitions but rather just want it as a backdrop to their life? That feels like it really distorts how people get “involved” with movements.

Now with social media and influencers from all over the world have a big say in what’s “cool,” often overshadowing local voices of NYC culture. This change has created a disconnect between the cultural expressions that naturally come from New York’s communities and the trends that become popular online. Sometimes they intersect sometimes they don’t.

Where are people getting money to buy property from? Is everyone secretly rich? What’s going on here?

@JoshuaKissi That being said any photographer who likes their own work is ready to photograph Zendaya styled by Law Roach are you kidding me LMFAO???

@JoshuaKissi I think what people don’t get about a “bigger” shoot is you’re managing expectations and directions to a LOT of people. Nobody is doubting the talent of making a photo, but can you do it with 25 people on set with opinions lol

IMHO there’s two levels of professional opportunities for young photographers: the work they feel confident they can execute smoothly and the work that pushes their boundaries usually offering a chance to showcase their potential at a higher level. The concept of readiness often involves a mix of technical skills, creative vision, and even emotional maturity to handle the pressures of more significant projects. Both opportunities need to exist for growth and cultivating your career but I would personally say only a “select few” are presented in this manner to begin with unfortunately. Smh

3 paragraph emails with not a number in sight honestly raises my threshold of budgetary needs.

The very logic that creates this “dance” is potential clients hoping that you are miserably under selling yourself, when really being forward with your budget is the MOST likely way to get someone to say yes.
