Not everybody that sends their children to private school are wealthy. This proposed policy from @UKLabour is discriminatory & could have a devastating impact on vulnerable young people, education & health services. chng.it/5wDYjmJgbL chng.it/tQrthwNS @UKChange

@drfootleg @recantha I used the 60mm diameter variant of these. I 3D printed an adapter to make them fit on an RC car hub. I can send you an STL if you like?

Question from Discord for #PiWars folks... Do you need 4 separate motor outputs for a 4-wheel Mecanum robot? If so, what driver board would you recommend to do that?

@_SimTek_ @NoSheds @recantha Or, easier. Write code to turn on LED and take a timestamp. Then record the time when you see the LED. I think I’m going to try this.

@PiDrogen @NoSheds @recantha A set up like this is easiest. Run a stopwatch and have the camera pointed at it, then take a photo of both the video stream and real stopwatch together and you can subtract the two times for latency

A question for #raspberrypi folks, what's the lowest latency camera feed achievable using raspberry pi adjacent hardware? Analogue systems likely unsuitable as needing to process it into GUIs or OpenCV And it needs sufficient Pi-ness to be #piwars compliant!

@_SimTek_ @NoSheds @recantha Hmm. Clever! But you’re measuring the latency of a video stream to a display. I feel like the latency to process an image is more relevant. How about switch on an LED then trigger a port line when you can see it?

@NoSheds @recantha Cheers for sharing! Yeah I've got to a similar point previously (although couldn't get there again for this years PiWars due to a last minute issue) I was using something like 200x100 which was good enough and that also got around the .5s mark

@_SimTek_ @ZodiusInfuser @orionrobots From PiWars.org….. although you are permitted to exchange partsof your robot to compete in different challenges, such as motors and wheels, for example. So not a loophole, rather it is explicitly allowed.

@ZodiusInfuser @orionrobots I saw at least one team interpret the "mission specific attachment" provision as meaning they could switch wheels - I expect they had tyres for temple of doom and used mecanum otherwise, so this *loophole* might have to be tightened up for that!

Transferred the @pimoroni Yukon to the Dobin the Unicorn rover and apart from connecting the motors had to make no changes to the software. Dobin will hopefully be competing in @Hacky_Racers robotic racing.

This is glorious. Person has a railway line outside their window, so built a Raspberry PI/camera script to watch for passing trains then take photos and stitch together a full image of them, after they've passed. trains.jo-m.ch/#/trains/list
