"I personally didn't but 99% of my side of the political aisle did" The same people who were harassing my employers into firing me and even attacking my house? The ones who still scream at me over a decade old joke and get my shows shut down and deplatformed? You're wondering why I'm not leaping out of bed to defend the free speech of people who don't even believe in free speech? I disavow arresting peaceful protestors completely but you fuckers made your bed. I spent 10 years trying to warn you. You didn't listen.

@Sindalf Heavy Swing > Maim > Storm's Eye = slashing and buff. Heavy Swing > ??? > Butcher's Block = higher potency combo + enmity but 10 less gauge generation than... Heavy Swing > Maim > Storm's Path = +10 gauge over the others, leading to more Fell Cleaves.

@mari_mitama Yes, gnashing was separate. There's a middle ground, though. We are going from end of the extreme to the other one which is why I think some people (including me) are not happy with it.

@Common_mon @WiseSwordFish46 @notorious__vex @FateFalse Agreed- even dungeons like tamtara, aurum vale and some others were crucial checks for play knowledge. I got reamed by my healer for spinning coincounter around and not positioning well, which by today's standards would leave people in tears lol

@WiseSwordFish46 @Common_mon @notorious__vex @FateFalse SAM for example felt good to play with its branching combos + debuffs required to execute bursts, so did DRG. I've never been a healer main myself so cannot speak for the removal of stoneskin or cleric stance, but I felt like the removal of options made the game poorer

@Common_mon @Pickled_Orange @notorious__vex @FateFalse the removal of mechanics can be felt across all jobs but I dont think thats exclusive to 1>2>3 My roles are : Healer > Tank > DPS I have been maining astro since HW. The old cards were awesome to play around + having the sects where i could choose to be shield or heal was great

non-larp travel hack for japan: study japanese for a year. leave your phone in america for a 5 week trip. plan nothing. travel the whole country and stop by kyoto on your way. pick a hotel in a random neighborhood. rent a bicycle so you can cross the city to visit arashiyama monkey park get visibly lost as the sun is setting and squint carefully at your map. get approached by an old woman and a young girl biking back from school. tell them you're just looking for a "kirei na keshiki" (a beautiful view) since the park you were going to is probably closed. accept the girl's invitation to take you to a bridge on her way home, and as you bike together, appreciate the timelessness of the meiji-era neighborhood in the glow of the setting sun after checking out the beautiful bridge nestled between the green hills and city, meet her parents at their family barbershop so her dad can spend about 30 minutes strategizing a proper route back for you, completely embarrassing his daughter follow that simple highway home and you will end up back in roughly the correct neighborhood. wander into an all-you-can-eat all-you-can-drink spot and get perfectly sloshed. stumble out of the restaurant into the middle of what you quickly realize is japan's biggest festival, the gion matsuri drop like $20 into what you believe is a donation box, only to be handed a ticket and ushered shoeless onto the 2nd floor of a building so you can cross a temporary bridge into a huge wooden float whose interior is gorgeously painted and filled with musicians. revel in the glory of that moment and the randomness that led you there

larp travel hack for japan go to a nice shopping area like ginza and buy a single nice item from somewhere like loro piana. just by carrying around the bag, you will be treated like royalty for the rest of the day as you explore other nice shops it's a really good chance to improve your conversational japanese because clerks will literally sit you down and feed you rare chocolates and tell you about their lives and the nice item will forever remind you of your beautiful day and the connections you made

AI cheating has gotten so bad that I now feel genuine affection for horrifically bad essays clearly written by the student

@amazonmilkfrog You're right- AI is an unusual quandary that academia is unprepared for, along with the fact that a good chunk of students will abuse it, hence the measures. To be fair, we survived worse as students so all these measures are preferrable to making all of you do it on paper

reading comprehension is dead. people are somehow taking this and its reply to mean that i'm upset that my professors will know i'm using ai. guys i don't use ai. i'm saying that my professor's anti-ai measures end up hurting honest, non-ai-using, procrastinators.

teachers requiring you to submit your assignments as google docs so they can look through the edit history and tell you didn't use ai is killing the "do it at the last minute" crowd.

@amazonmilkfrog @ephemerealities I speak for a lot of us profs and teachers when I say that we do not care as long as we see that whatever you're making is coherent and done properly- we were students once too and a degree is hard work, we get it. If it's too shit maybe you'll get a chance to redo it too

@yinks_omg @amazonmilkfrog Shit like this is why we treat you like babies btw, imagine needing enforced milestones and progression planners because a small subset of students are amoral and ethically lacking the capacity to manage their time well enough that it affects the entire student body

@NateDuvall97420 the problem is that they will see that, even though i did my own work, it was a rush job, and that will color their opinion of me and of my work
