@Fludded @PatrickChristys @grok Had Patrick even heard of the Chagos Islands prior to jumping on the “let’s blame Keir Starmer for everything” wagon? Was he aware the Tories began the negotiations when in government?

@grok is any of the claims made by Patrick correct or any of the claims he is supporting correct? Are all Chagossians "miserable"? Are these immigration folk "flown in"? What would be a reasonable explanation for what customs and immigration are doing stopping a vessel approaching an island unchecked? Will all this be Starmers doing?

One day the full truth will come out about why Starmer and Hermer were so desperate to give the Chagos Islands away and why they’ve devoted so many resources to making the Chagossians’ lives miserable on the islands despite them having a legal right to be there.
Adam Holloway@ajhholloway

UPDATE: Reality of what a government made up "human rights lawyers" really means. Flown in Customs, Police & Royal Marines going through every single box. Denied Chagossians: an emergency solar water maker; mosquito nets; bedding; mobile phone; sunglasses;clothing & ice-maker.

@HowardCCox @NickFerrariLBC @LBC @RachelReevesMP @AdvanceUK Of course the duty should be reduced otherwise how could all those people afford to get to Aintree over 3 days to spend money on gambling? If it’s so expensive they could stay at home & place their bets online as I’m doing

My comments on the brilliant @NickFerrariLBC show on @LBC today as to why the hell hasn't @RachelReevesMP not reduced fuel duty or done anything to help UK drivers. Over 61 nations have done a lot for their motorists against the punitive prices at the pumps. @AdvanceUK @benhabib6

You are a fucking dangerous lying evil man who has destroyed the capital city where I have lived for over two decades. There is no "outrage economy" or "disinformation" from me. The Islamist takeover is real. I HAVE BEEN MUGGED TWICE. MY FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE BEEN MUGGED MULTIPLE TIMES. MY NEIGHBOURS HAVE HAD THEIR HOMES INVADED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT AND THE POLICE DO NOTHING. MY FRIENDS ARE TOO SCARED TO WALK THE STREETS. Try and censor us all you want, but you will never shut down the truth.
Sadiq Khan@SadiqKhan

Disinformation about London has become a global industry. The new “outrage economy” is growing - and it’s eating away at the bonds that hold our society together. That's why I'm calling for urgent action from social media companies and government. theguardian.com/media/2026/apr…

@WestminsterWAG Many people on benefits are working. Should their children be deprived of learning of the history etc of our country? How come so many are at Aintree today? Why aren’t they at work?

@MaggieThatchr @RobertJenrick I’ve been a member of NT for years, rarely go now as my mobility is limited. Amazing that your mum knew people were getting in for free & that they were migrants or on benefits. How?? Did she stand right behind them at the kiosk or ask each one personally?

@RobertJenrick I completely agree. My wife is a nurse who recently wanted to visit a NT property & paid £40+ for her and her Mum. She had to consider if it was affordable. On arrival she saw hoards of visitors - migrants & Brits - on benefits getting in for free. It’s a huge kick in the teeth.

@bottomley50 @sharonwllms48 It’s all the media, BBC, ITV & Sky. They’re all Trump hates UK etc without mentioning that he hates most of Europe. A former Boris spad on @GMB & presenters comparing him to John Terry as is @JuliaHB1 in the Sun. That’s obviously Murdoch & co’s line today!

@GMB 2 guests were introduced as reviewers of the papers when in fact it turned into a plug for an ITV podcast & an opportunity for a Boris fan to slag off the Prime Minister & criticise his footwear! Utter rubbish the whole thing.

@Eyeswideopen69 @sharonwllms48 One minute all pensioners are freezing & no one can afford to eat or buy petrol. It’s amazing then how many people have got to Aintree, bought food, drinks & had a bet judging by the crowds there on the first day of the Festival!

With this free rail pass they can travel to countries like Bulgaria where the cost of living is a fraction of what it is in the UK while educating themselves and experiencing something new. As you would know if you had ever left your parents’ basement.

@DPJHodges I'm not applying this to you but many of the people in the comments defending the defence secretary wouldn't do so if he was a Tory. I don't like double standards.

I want to personally thank the UAE Government for their impeccable leadership during such a difficult time, which was completely nothing to do with them. This could happen to any country at any time. The UK has had its share of wars and difficult times. But the way they handled it, both their military defence but also their caring and proactive support to all residents, deserves respect. Also, the way the people have stood together in harmony, love and support has been overwhelming. Whilst the property market has dipped understandably, I am continuing to invest with the full assurance that it will continue to prosper and become the undisputed number one country to live. The only government I genuinely trust 🇦🇪 Whilst I will continue to travel and have homes in multiple countries, UAE will always be home to me. Shame on everybody who revelled in our hardship. But we stand with UAE, and we continue to thrive 🙏🏼

It's time to retire the triple lock. It's unfair to expect a generation who face much higher housing & education costs than their grandparents to indefinitely fund the state pension to outpace wage growth. comment.press/triple-lock
