Last thoughts on Karmelo Anthony before he disappears for a long time:
- The defense only called 6 witnesses and rested abruptly
- The only person to speak on his behalf during the punishment phase was his mother.
- The defense didn’t even think to prepare him to testify on his own behalf
Additionally, there were no teachers, counselors, church members, etc. willing to discuss his character in court and plead for him to have another chance at life. Nobody could vouch he was really a good kid and was going to be a contributing member of society someday.
The jury heard closing statements, deliberated, found him guilty, then completed the punishment phase all in one day.
In other words, there was no way to adequately defend or humanize this animal.

I’m not sure where this idea is coming from. The Packers gave up a damn good DT and two first-round picks for Parsons, one of which was No. 23 in this past draft. That’s not nothing.

@things_sox I never understood the Madrigal hate. He was solid before injuries derailed his career. He generated almost 2 WAR in his first 80 games.
It doesn't help that Kimbrel was washed and generally awful.

Even as a Chase Meidroth truther, Nick Madrigal had an objectively better slash (.317/.353/.406. to Meidroth’s .273/.345/.396). Injuries and that trade just derailed his career.

I find it odd that John Elway has 0 first team All-Pro selections. People will gaslight you and tell you he was some top 5 QB OAT when he was arguably not even top 5 in his era most of his career. His legacy was a inflated when he won back to back Super Bowls off Terrell Davis’ legs (7 straight post season games over 100 yds) a Rod Smith 80 yd house call that was under-thrown, and 4 turnovers from his defense gifting him his SB MVP.
