I want to say something to Diaspora Jewry. You guys are going through a terrible time. At least here we know from whom the rockets come. There, it could be the mailman, the baker, a neighbor you didn't know you had. It's a scary place to be. It's a horrible place to be. I just want you to know that I see you and think of you. Part of the strategy of the antisemites is to drive a wedge between us. They tell you you're not safe because of Israel, they tell you you are not safe because you refuse to condemn Israel. They do this so that you feel defensive, unsure and unsteady - they do it to divide us. They make you feel unsafe and threaten your synagogues because of your belief in the Jewish state, because you don't condemn us as genociders. They say that if you would just be Jewish, but not support the Jewish state, everything would be fine. But of course they don't ask a four year old what he thinks before shoving him to the ground, and they don't check how Zionist the people on Bondi Beach are before spraying them with bullets, and they don't question the Belgian chassid before knocking off his hat, and they don't ask the political opinions of the Golders Green emergency response teams are before torching their ambulances, and they don't ask the toddlers in a Michigan synagogue how they feel about Netanyahu before ramming the school with a car full of explosives. It's part of their strategy so that they can claim not to be racist while calling you racist. They pray on and question your liberal values when you raise concerns about someone's racist history, they say you're only speaking out because the person is black or brown or Middle Eastern and they refuse to hear your concerns. So you are caught between wanting to be a good American/Brit/Australian/Canadian and wanting to speak up for your people, reality and heritage. I feel for you. I really really do. And I pray for your safety. While I'm here I want to mention something super niche but I think enough of my audience will get it. If a synagogue, especially one known for it's incredible leadership openness and levels of community building unheard of before, has to limit it's attendance to members for a week or two due to the security situation, try reacting with empathy and understanding, realize that maybe there's something going on that you don't know about instead of accusing them of elitism. Remember who the real enemy is, don't let them divide us. Stand together. Stand strong.

The 2026 WBC will forever be one of the greatest sports memories of my life. As I begin to reflect on the tournament, I’m flooded with gratitude. The baseball was some of the best I’ve ever seen, but the people behind the flags are what make this my favorite sporting event in the world. People who love the game, their country, their culture, and other people. Over the last few weeks, I’ve met so many new people from across the globe who I now call friends. And through hundreds of meaningful conversations, I have learned so much about the diverse life experiences around the world. To all the people who I met, and who have given me deeper perspective on life: thank you. I have been in love with baseball since I could first pick up a bat. I experienced a bit of burn out after playing every year from 4 years old through high school. The WBC made me fall back in love with this sport again. I’m not even sure how to process the last few weeks and all its memories. I’ll try to share as many of them as I can with y’all as time goes on.
