My dad always just took me in the men's toilet when I was a kid. It's normal for young children to be in opposite sex toilets with their parent. I just went in a stall and he waited for me outside. I don't see how any harm can occur with that.

I've heard of this a few times on here and it always seems completely bizarre to me.
If an adult is taking a child into a public restroom, you go into the one for the adult.

I’ve literally been in a public restroom where a dad knocked loudly and announced “I’m a dad bringing my 3 year old daughter in to use the restroom. Is everyone decent?” And it’s was me and a friend and we had no objections. Little girls should be allowed to go potty in a clean restroom with a trusted adult if there are no family restrooms available. That old man is a weirdo for making it a big deal and scaring those girls.

Whole lot of non-breeders discussing what bathroom they would take their hypothetical daughter to.
1) My daughter isn't going in the mens bathroom, full stop.
2) I'd ask a female worker to clear the restroom beforehand, if not I'm sure a stranger would peek in and ask if anyone was in there if you simply asked them to.
3) if 2 isn't an option, crack the door and announce yourself. It's that simple.
Being a girl dad is weird. You get looked at sideways by a ton of people in public. Do yourself a favor and be extremely intentional with your words and actions. People will try to burn you the first chance they get.
