@Lazarbeam I made a 5000 VBuck purchase that kicks everyone in the game (except you) back to the Fortnite lobby.

#UEFN PSA: Scene Graph has broken my heart.
I've been a huge promoter of scene graph for the past year but I want me to make something clear about the current state of it:
DO NOT USE IT IN A PUBLISHED PROJECT. Or at the least, use it as little as possible.
Even basic features that have worked for months seem to be fraying at the edges. For example, for nearly three weeks there was a bug where if a mesh was distance culled, it would be culled forever and never come back. In this update, they made "quality of life" changes to the prefab editor that has made it actively worse to use, which makes me feel like no one is working/testing with OUR version of Scene Graph.
They released a "Alpha Tycoon" template to teach people scene graph but it is already outdated and broken because they completely removed Scene Events in a mini update yesterday (not to mention the scene events they were using were internally outdated the day it was published). Which makes me feel like there is a massive disconnect within the studio on where Scene Graph is even at.
The tough thing is, I really do love Scene Graph. When it is working, it is absolutely amazing. There is so much potential there and we are begging them for more key components (damageable, in-world umg, skeletal mesh). I would love to keep using Scene Graph but I need to warn anyone that is thinking of using it when they see cool SG-related posts all over twitter.
In the meantime, I'm not sure what I will do. With the Unity in Fortnite announcement, maybe I'll start watching tutorials for that. At the end of the day, I want to make games and I had hoped Scene Graph would make that easier but so far, it has made it much more painful.

@SupremeUEFN @EldoraanGaming @TimSweeneyEpic I mean, UE6 will be much more integrated than the Unity approach. But I don’t see why Epic wouldn’t give UE5 a similar path to Unity in the meantime.
English

@Pimit8 @EldoraanGaming @TimSweeneyEpic He already said it iirc, that with UE6 you will be able to release your game game in fortnite or you can release like normal game

Extremely bullish for Fortnite / the discover ecosystem, very confusing for UEFN.

UNITY GAMES WILL BE COMPATIBLE INSIDE FORTNITE IN 2026
English

@EldoraanGaming @TimSweeneyEpic It feels odd that Unity devs would benefit from Fortnite integration before UE5 devs. UEFN would still be the long term plan
English

@Pimit8 @TimSweeneyEpic One would think, but I don't see why they would have gone through 2-3 years of trying to make UEFN stable enough to run their BR... if they were just going to allow devs to use Unreal 5 anyways.
English

@EldoraanGaming @TimSweeneyEpic I’m curious whether Epic plans something similar for standalone UE5 projects
English

@Pimit8 @TimSweeneyEpic It won't affect UEFN devs at all. UEFN does it's thing, Unity does theirs and Tim said it all goes through an API.

Opening 5 new credit cards today. If this promo flops, I’ll be pitching Visa a custom branded map in exchange for debt forgiveness.

Game #3: Fortle
I think this remake is my favorite so far. The animations are just perfect. They really make the game feel alive. I wish I could animate the text. I thought about making the text part of the material, but I’m still a material noob. @FNCreate #UEFN #Verse @TimSweeneyEpic
- 100% Verse UI built with Material Blocks and parameter control that animates the bounce on letter input, letter reveal, shake, and victory jump
- Local sound effects play directly from each machine (idle SFX or gameplay triggers)
- Career statistics board
- 14,649 guessable words, 2,241 of which can be the answer. (filtered out profanity)
Since some people have asked, I’ll release a public code after Game #5 is finished. (That doesn’t mean I’m stopping at just five.) All of these will be playable, I just don’t want to launch with only three games and have a total playtime of around ten minutes, which could hurt the game’s chances in Discover.
Game #4 coming right up next week. Your hint: 🦖🛜
