As a long-time queer I wanna remind folks that safety of trans/queer folks is abt more than "state-sponsored discrimination". It's also state violence like NYPD murder of Kawaski Trawick, a Black gay man cooking at home when he was killed.

Not a question we should need to ask. Yet here we are. My guess is that SCOTUS will decline to hear this case.
Note that Dunn's innocence isn't in doubt. The question is whether the Constitution permits Missouri to keep him in prison anyway.

Much like the sheriffs who "don't enforce laws" -- this is not a "separation of powers" problem. This is about ensuring racist hierarchies. It also reflects the problem of tweaking a system that tbqh required major reform.

This is how cops in Uvalde, who stood around while 19 kids were killed, treats one of the victim’s mother. They’ve done more to brutalize parents than to stop an active shooter. They’ll attack a mother with a sign but hide from killer with an AR-15.
