When you’ve lived 100 lives before you’re 30, it starts to become hard to remember all of the lore.

The Mormon per successful SMB owner ratio has to be the highest of any religion. Every Mormon I meet in this space is an absolute weapon. Admirable thing you guys got goin on over there tbh.

Tyler Mumford - The Stump Guy
In January, I had only been stump grinding for 6 months. I had no idea what was possible with a full spring/summer. So I threw what I thought was a stretch goal out there: $200k. Proud to say that we hit that goal on the first day of Q4! Cool moment, but WE ARE NOT STOPPING!

Who should I be following to learn more about buying, running, growing, and selling small businesses? I'm specifically interested in service businesses as that's what I'm building, but I'm fully aware there are killers in every industry / business model. Who do I follow?

I think one reason Asians work so hard is that they actually have leisure during their time off. They aren't at home mowing the law, trying to get the sliding door back on track, doing travel soccer. Just live in an apartment tower, hotpot, beers, indoor shrimp fishing, etc.
ObtainerOfRareAntiquities@ObtainerOf

It is 8pm in Chongqing, you and the boys hit hotpot and spend six hours feasting and drinking beer in a steamy spicy room. The next day hungover you go to indoor shrimp fishing and chainsmoke the day away

I hate seeing this among my contemporaries. Young Americans turning to this belief system aren’t “empowered.” They’re embracing victimhood. What’s driving this movement isn’t just politics…it’s mindset. Too many young people see themselves as powerless victims of circumstance. They believe success or failure is determined entirely by external forces, and that the government is their only hope for rescue. That worldview is toxic. It breeds entitlement, laziness, and defeat. And once accepted, it spreads like a cancer-robbing people of the very drive and resilience that create opportunity in the first place. Yes, macroeconomic conditions matter. Recessions happen. Markets swing. But conditions change. If you are resilient, hardworking, and prepared, opportunity always reappears. Those who take ownership of their circumstances will find ways to succeed. The greatest danger isn’t the financial crisis of the past or the economic uncertainty of the future—it’s raising a generation that no longer believes they control their own future. We need more builders, not victims. More ownership, not excuses. And more leaders willing to remind the next generation: your life is shaped more by your effort and resilience than by any politician’s promise.

I do think a lot of people who want to be cool and seek status above things like loyalty or wholesomeness do pretty much always end up backstabbing each other. Nothing lasting can really be built on a foundation of status games.

This winter I am committing to becoming a Fieldroutes power user. Fieldroutes is our CRM. The company we acquired also used a CRM but they used it extremely poorly. They didn’t have any automations for upcoming appointments or invoices. They don’t update info hardly ever or keep good records. A lot of services and invoices just slipped through the cracks. Since taking over 18 day ago, we have increased ARR 25% just by being more organized. Makes me think we have so much more juice to squeeze out of our own operations if we can magnify every part of our CRM and use it the way it’s intended.

You have no idea how many rooms I have been in with people like this. And the completely un-self-conscious way in which they think they should rightfully control the public is astonishing. With truly the most out of touch ideas about how reality works.

This is insane. She completely ignores the fact that people are not going to use their neighbour’s car and that a neighbour is not going to let anyone else use their car. That’s the problem with nonsense like this - it never takes into account basic human nature.

My brother’s executive assistant reached out to me on behalf of my brother to invite me to his podcast. Instead of, you know, my brother reaching out to me. What’s the play here? Do I get my assistant to talk with his assistant? (I don’t have an assistant)

I drink a lot of Yerba Mate. This is how I was taught to prepare it. I’m sure everyone will have their critiques.
