Upsetting news to hear #StarTrek Starfleet Academy will not go past Season 2. The fandom's inability to embrace any new storytelling outside of nostalgia might as well be the death knell for the fandom.

And when the Next Gen came out; there was tons of hate because it “wasn’t Star Trek” and the cast probably was in fear from the fans. Again when the series with Bakula came out, it too was panned by the fans because it “wasn’t Star Trek.” Star Trek is different for everyone. 🤷🏼

If the audience didn't turn up/turned off, that's on the people who made the show. "Influencers" don't have THAT much power.

No it came from the fandom. Most of y'all weren't born when I was ten year old boy watching original Star Trek each week on a fixed schedule (no video recorders and no rebroadcasts). I was a huge fan in 1966. I stopped watching spin off series in the 1990s sometime but I wasn't exactly thrilled about Next Generation. As far as series go it was all downhill after the original. Movies with the original cast were very good.
