@Peston It's about time something interesting happened with this Labour government. It's all been so bland since they took over.

The cabinet ministers urging Keir Starmer to consider setting out an orderly timetable for his resignation include the home secretary, Shabana Mahmood, the foreign secretary, Yvette Cooper, and the energy secretary, Ed Miliband - so holders of two of the great offices of state and a former Labour leader. Tomorrow’s cabinet meeting will be more than usually consequential. His allies tell me he can and will resist the pressure to quit. Quite the game of chicken.

Our politics really is dominated by a bunch of know-nothing amateurs. Those urging Keir Starmer to announce a timetable for his departure don’t seem to realise the moment he does that he ceases, de facto, to be PM.

This country might be about to have its 6th Prime Minister in 7 years. Why? Because they’ve all failed to take on a rigged economic system that enriches the few at the expense of us all. People want a society where children don’t go hungry. That is really not too much to ask.

British Government in a shambles tonight. Nobody quite clear who’s in charge. Who would have thought Labour would be been even more useless than the Tories? Starmer living on borrowed time. Support ebbing away. But to what? Nobody knows. The world has rarely been more dangerous in modern times and we barely have a government.

@moveincircles I wonder if there is a legal principle regarding ownership of the land, seeing as the university is saying it's on Aboriginal land? I'd find it absolutely hilarious if they were taken to court.

A remarkable example of the way digital media dissolves the preconditions for exactly this kind of territoriality I'm not on Aboriginal land, I'm in Britain, but I still get the popup. The effect is to make the whole exercise even more nonsensical than it already was

I’m not sure why we still have a monarch. It seems like a medieval anachronism to me; a demonstration of inherited status and the the pinnacle of an entrenched aristocracy. And I’m really not sure why our monarch has gone to the US to stand next to another man with too much power, land and money.

The quickest way to tip Starmer out of No.10 is on May 8 a no-hoper Labour MP ( there’s plenty of them) to act as a stalking horse with just one policy; To allow Andy Burnham to stand for Parliament. That would easily get the 80MPs required. Then the heavies could pile in. Starmer would be gone in a heartbeat.

On the UK Government rejecting an IndyRef2 in the future, Polanski said: "It's like having a house party and your guests tell you they really don't want to be there, but you've locked the door. So ultimately, I think people need to have keys to their own front door."

Asked if it would "legally problematic" to remove assets from people he disagreed with politically - in this case Donald Trump and his Scottish golf courses - Zack Polanski said: "I think more problematic is a genocide in Gaza".
