Episode 223: Pay the People
In OAPN #4 we discuss the only real solution to AI job losses, lab fearmongering and escalating violence:
Pay the people.
PAY THE PEOPLE.
...preferably in Bitcoin.
We began this video series on November 7 2023, the day after OpenAI's dev day where they promised revenue sharing to developers of their agent predecessors called GPTs.
@sama said, "Revenue sharing is important to us."
Why then has @OpenAI - and all AI labs other than OpenAgents - paid exactly $0 to developers, users, or content creators on whose works they built their companies?
While AI CEOs spread fear about impending job losses and the existential risks of what they themselves are creating, their only solutions have been to lobby politicians for socialist programs like UBI, wealth funds, and additional regulation on AI labs.
It is the classic playbook of regulatory capture, using false pretenses of benefiting the people to instead entrench their own power.
If the big labs truly cared to distribute wealth more broadly, absolutely nothing prevents them issuing rev-share dividends today.
We are doing it. OpenAgents has already paid more community contributors than all other AI labs combined.
Our code is open source. Use it to distribute dividends or pay us and we'll do it for you.
Do you have another solution?
...a solution ready NOW and not after years more of enriching lobbyists trying to buy off enough politicians to pass half-assed legislation years from now?
THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
The path forward is simple:

Now they've generally attached these shitcoins that I think are completely unnecessary, but hey if you have 70 people that will contribute compute to be paid in your shitcoin, if we make it easy for Bitcoin -- the massive, biggest, most secure, coolest awesomest network, why don't we get 700 people or 7,000 or 70,000 people contributing their compute to this network? Can we build an entire vertically integrated AI stack on top of retail compute and get you paid and get you paid and get you paid? This is what we're building."
