@ForrestTheWoods Just ask in your system prompt. This is what I do. Something like "don't assume my directions are correct, push back if you think I'm suggesting bad ideas". Works well for me, though sometimes pushes back more than I'd like ha.

Unpopular Opinion: I kind of want an LLM coding agent that tells me I’m wrong and refuses to do what I ask.
LLMs have no taste. No opinion. They’re sycophants.
I want a C++ gamedev agent that is opinionated and has taste and pushes back when my ideas are dumb.

So all Claude did was extend what was already there.
But, like, it can! It did! And it's genuinely useful!

Spent another ~15 minutes and added good debug viz for Rust's String and HashMap to Raddebugger via Claude Code.
I've been able to support C++ unordered_map, Jai Hash_Table, and Rust HashMap (plus a few more) in less than day's work.
Claude Code can produce genuine value.

Something I just realized: you can use Claude Code to help you review its changes. Not just "review this", but e.g. "show me the key changes / decisions you made and use the ask question tool to sign off on them". You get a loop of change + yes/no dialog.

I'm Boris and I created Claude Code. Lots of people have asked how I use Claude Code, so I wanted to show off my setup a bit.
My setup might be surprisingly vanilla! Claude Code works great out of the box, so I personally don't customize it much. There is no one correct way to use Claude Code: we intentionally build it in a way that you can use it, customize it, and hack it however you like. Each person on the Claude Code team uses it very differently.
So, here goes.

You can create maintainable code with vibe coding. You just need to treat that as an additional goal and explicitly ask the model to review code quality and improve it.

Lately, I've gain a ton of respect for vibe-coders. We are here on our high horses, telling them how their code is shit and how models can't fix their messes, but they just don't care. Many of these folks are simply optimizing for a different outcome. For them, code is just a means to an end. They don't care about maintainability, elegance, or correctness because they aren't planning to touch the code. They care about shipping their idea before they forget. Do you know how many ideas I've had that I've never executed on because I didn't have the time or was too lazy to get off my couch? I can learn a thing or two from people willing to make things happen, even when so many aristocrats tell them they shouldn't.

We have frozen the spec for the upcoming release of MCP. Upcoming additions are Tasks, enabling long running operations, and Client ID Metadata replacing Dynamic Client Registration as well as a lot of small ergonomics.
