@ewkewpid there was an abandoned empty grocery store down the street from where i grew up that had the lights on 24/7 for the decade i lived there. nothing was ever done with the place, no one ever went in, but they stayed on somehow. i’m guessing it’s something like that

@sillyexbf This was my biggest worry when I had to move peoples laundry. I only did it on 2 occasions after waiting for over 4 hours both times. And when I did, I put a note and put them in bags

moved someone’s clothes from the dryer to the table and came back to find she ended my machine for it 😀

@purimfest @captainpisslord big cities generally also have resources. If the immigrant community is established, there are people who might cut you a deal on rent bc you're their people. There's specialist grocery stores that sell familiar foods. There's schools to help you learn English, etc.

Genuine question for those smarter than me: What makes immigrants migrate to cold places? Like how indians have flocked into Canada, or somalis in Minnesota. Surely someone from such a hot environment would prefer something closer to normal
