Nevada’s Division of Social Services launched a program that provides monthly financial assistance to kinship caregivers raising children affected by parental substance misuse. Funded through the Fund for a Resilient Nevada during the 83rd Legislative Session, KinCare aims to support relatives who step in to keep families together and prevent children from entering the formal foster care system. A Nevada judge has extended the ban on @Kalshi from offering sports, election, and entertainment prediction markets to Nevada residents without a state gaming license. Judge Woodbury ruled the contracts are indistinguishable from illegal gambling and granted a preliminary injunction, while extending the temporary order through April 17. The filibuster is a Senate rule requiring 60 votes to end debate, allowing a minority to block legislation. @SenateDems have used it repeatedly to stall Pres. Trump’s agenda, fueling @GOP frustration and talks of the nuclear option (previously used by former Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada), talking filibusters, or budget carve-outs. The filibuster is a Senate rule that lets a minority of senators delay or block legislation by requiring 60 votes to end debate. With the partial @DHSGov shutdown now in its 7th week, pressure is growing to reform or bypass the filibuster to restore funding. Democrats have focused on blocking much of Pres. @realDonaldTrump's agenda, frustrating @SenateGOP and prompting new discussions of options like Nevada's former Democrat Senator @HarryReid's nuclear option, talking filibusters, or budget carve-outs. Shutdown Update: Pres. Trump (R) plans to sign an executive order to pay all @DHSgov employees, expanding last week’s order that covered only @TSA agents, as the government shutdown reaches 49 days. Both of Nevada’s senators, @SenCortezMasto (D) and @SenJackyRosen (D), refused to fund @ICEgovERO. Republican leaders unveiled a two-track plan to fund the remaining agencies through reconciliation, bypassing the need for @SenateDems votes. However, the Senate is currently on break, and many senators have left Washington. Src. nbcnews.com/politics/white…

Shutdown update: The House passed a short-term bill Friday to fund the DHS for eight weeks, sending it back to the Senate, where Sen. Schumer (D) called it “dead on arrival.” As the stalemate enters its seventh week, Pres. Trump (R) signed an executive order to pay TSA employees with reserve funds, declaring it an “emergency situation compromising the nation’s security.” Src. abcnews.com/Politics/senat…

Voter rolls are official state records of registered voters. Federal law requires states to keep these lists accurate and up-to-date. Src. nevadapoliticaljournal.com/news/how-nevad…

Voter rolls are official @NVSOS records of registered voters. Federal law requires states to keep these lists accurate and up-to-date. In Nevada, registrations are reconciled against @NevadaDMV, Social Security, and death records. Voters can be removed if they move out of state or show no activity in two consecutive federal elections — never simply for not voting. Despite these maintenance procedures, Nevada ranks near the bottom nationally in election integrity and faces ongoing @TheJusticeDept scrutiny over its automatic voter registration and universal mail-in ballot systems, as well as its lack of a photo ID to vote. The @WhiteHouse issued an Executive Order restricting mail-in voting for the November midterms. Legal experts expect swift court challenges, as the Constitution grants states and Congress authority over elections. In Nevada, the measure could significantly impact mail-in voting, which has been widely used since the pandemic. Src. whitehouse.gov/presidential-a…

Labor union members form a highly mobilized voting bloc. Nevada has roughly 189,000 union members, which is ~13% of the state’s workforce. In a state often decided by narrow margins, these members deliver strong turnout and grassroots energy that can decide close races. Src. nevadapoliticaljournal.com/voters/union-m…
