Encouraging trading and playing with friends, opportunity for slightly different playthrough changes
Cons:
Can't get everything on your own, "need" both versions if you're trying to have everything for competitive play, makes them more money to waste

@PolluxTheBat At the highest level of play is very different to how they'd be used in game!! Even if they did have STAB moves, high base power (think Earthquake/Megahorn) and good stat attribution was rare.

STAB moves that actually synergize with the best attacking stat used to be rare on purpose back in the day. It was self balancing in way that the maximum damage a 'mon could do was limited. Damage multipliers nowadays make everyone very easily 1-2 shot with boosted stab moves

@DistantCoder One key thing to note with commander is that you're also trying to hit specific powerlevels when deckbuilding to fit the power bracket of the table. For example, if the table is playing with X-Saber and Fire Fist, you don't roll up with full power tear, if that makes sense.

MTG people who play EDH, how do you go about building a deck?
As someone new to the game, idk enough cards to just build a deck from scratch.
EDHRec is cool and all but it gives card suggestions rather than decklists and nowhere online can I find good decklists to start with :(
