“One-time” 5% wealth tax, sure. Until you run out of that money, since all California knows to do is waste taxpayer money, and then come running back asking for more. It’s not a money problem, California has plenty of it; it’s got a spending problem. Fix the waste, fix the fraud, be efficient capital allocators first before you take the high road and have the audacity to ask people for more money.

California voters have an important moral decision in November. Will the 200 California billionaires, who got richer under Trump, begin paying their fair share through a one-time 5% wealth tax, or will millions lose their healthcare because of Trump’s cuts? The choice is clear.

@ThomasLehrer @jamesdouma So you do need to learn coding basics at a minimum. Do you reckon there’s a false narrative pushed around with people saying how you don’t need to learn to code anymore because AI can do everything?

@Pootonium @jamesdouma Use whatever AI provides you as a learning template. Learn to actually code. It's not hard for basics. Learn that coding is a building process, even within the same code.

@Pootonium @jamesdouma The more tech knowledge you have, the better the results faster. That said, the skill is to be able define intent, not code. Sit down and decide EXACTLY what you want, then tell the model.

@GadSaad Let's also ask what happens when an administration opens up hiring for ICE, gives the wrong incentives and ends up having a force full of radical ideologists that think all inmigrants are bad. Does that also count as suicidal empathy for the people you brought into ICE?

An embarrassing self-own from Nithya in her commercial, where she actually reveals her "crowd of supporters" is just 30 paid actors packed into a closed set. LOL. I don't have to hire actors to get a crowd. All I have to do is show up, and real Angelenos step up. We are winning.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to sell Tesla shares? I did for the first time today letting it go at $442 to buy this beautiful piece of property. We have held Tesla for almost 7 years and haven’t sold a single share, just accumulated. Today was the day. Fortunately, it was only a small fraction of our 100% Tesla portfolio.

Lol, Ro Khanna is a prolific inside trader. He and his family’s net worth collectively is into the many hundreds of millions, but because he’s not a billionaire, he gets to use it as a shield and advocate for a ‘billionaire tax’. Let’s go after those who’s net worth is into the hundreds of millions too; they are wealthy enough to be hit with a ‘wealth tax’. He wouldn’t be standing up there advocating for a centi-millionaire wealth tax that’s for sure.

As a CEO his fiduciary duty is to maximise shareholder returns, which he has already done with Tesla since IPO and for the private investors of SpaceX. His pay packages are tied to both market capitalization AND operational metrics; basically means he doesn’t get whatever that’s in his comp plan until shareholders get paid first. You have no idea what you are talking about, just pure emotional drivel.

When it comes to governance and returning maximum returns for shareholders (which is what we care about as investors), where has he fallen short of accountability thus far? Also if you founded and built up a company, you have a right to have an outsized ownership of it. Google's founders have done that, so has Meta through a dual class share structure. Nobody's crying about that. So why is it a problem when Elon does it with his companies? Right, coz it's Elon Musk. Hence the Elon Derrangement Syndrome.

Overall, markets are doing quite well despite high interest rates. There are also high market expectations that rates will come down later this year with Trump’s new Fed chair coming in. There is also plenty of anticipation for the OpenAI IPO, which is supposedly valued at over $850B, but it isn’t a profitable company yet either. Also I’m guessing you meant ‘Starlink’ when you talked about the only business model that’s currently making money? I wouldn’t say China can easily distribute there own satellite constellation when they don’t have a fully reusable orbital class rocket like SpaceX’s Falcon 9 (at 1/10th the launch cost of industry standards). It’s a long and very difficult road to get there for competitors. SpaceX deploys over >85% of total payload to orbit compared to others. Also, even though China puts out so many cars I question the financial health of most of those companies because they are heavily propped up by CCP subsidies. They are actually not profitable like Tesla is.

@Pootonium @nytimes Not in this monetary environment. We are in a risk off period, high interest, we may see high inflation and private credit a facing problems. Only one of their business model make decent money and that’s SpaceX which can easily be distributed by China like Tesla was
