quite literally the opposite happened, we signed the contract and Kentucky told us another team had already gotten it to them before us so we got fucked over. Either way team had no business being in the postseason.

I did not remember that. Great pull. Mercer, whose big issue was lack of Q1 games & SOS, cancelled a series at Kentucky who ultimately got in over the Bears. UK scheduled The Citadel as a replacement, which it swept. The Citadel went 3-2 over Mercer on the season including a run rule victory to eliminate them in the SoCon Tournament, en route to the auto-bid. I think Mercer is right to feel snubbed. The SOS is bad, but if you can get a top 30 RPI and win your league with a bad SOS, more power to you.
I do think the case for them is much easier to make over Texas State than it is Kentucky however. Mercer’s glaring issue is the lack of good wins and that’s the main thing UK can tout. Texas State is worse in that regard, plus it has a worse RPI than both. I think NC State could be folded into that conversation as well.
