Ports of Indiana European Trade Representative Brian Dooley had a great week of international engagement in Chicago ahead of the @AGLPA_ports Annual Conference 🇳🇱🇮🇪 He met with @Eric_Strating, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands @NLinChicago, to discuss the strong U.S.-Dutch trade relationship and the steady flow of freight and bulk commodities between our countries. Insights from a recent Dutch logistics conference — where barge, rail, and truck work together to connect deep-sea ports with inland hubs — continue to shape how we grow multimodal freight connectivity, including our planned all-water container service to Burns Harbor. He also welcomed the chance to speak with Niamh Smyth TD, Minister of State at the @DeptEnterprise and @SenatorMarkDaly, Speaker of the Seanad, about strengthening trade ties with Ireland. Thanks to Michael A. McDermott, @steventrijsburg, Danny Kelley, and acting Consul General Pádraig Manning of @IrelandChicago for helping make these conversations happen.

🏆 Big news from Burns Harbor Railroad! We are proud to share that they have been honored with the @ASLRRA Jake Award with Distinction! The Jake Award, presented by the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, recognizes member railroads that perform better than the Class II and III industry average injury frequency rate. "With Distinction" is the highest honor, reserved for railroads that achieved zero reportable injuries. For Burns Harbor Railroad, this recognition is a reflection of something even more meaningful: three consecutive years without a lost-time incident. That kind of record doesn't happen by accident. It's the result of every single member of their team showing up each day committed to doing their jobs safely for themselves, for their coworkers, and for the community they serve. Thank you to every member of the Burns Harbor Railroad team — your dedication makes this possible. 🙌 #RailroadSafety #JakeAward #BurnsHarborRailroad #ASLRRA #ShortLine #SafetyExcellence #ZeroIncidents *The award is named for Lowell S. "Jake" Jacobson, who championed short line safety starting in the 1990s.

Big things are happening at Ports of Indiana-Burns Harbor! @USDOT Secretary @SecDuffy got a firsthand look at one of the country's most strategically located freight hubs… and the transformation underway here is hard to miss. From $100M in new docks, warehouses, and rail infrastructure, to the development of the only international sea-cargo container terminal in the Chicago metro area, Burns Harbor is emerging as a gateway for global trade right in the heart of the Midwest. Ports of Indiana CEO Jody Peacock joined Secretary Duffy for the tour, along with Indiana Secretary of Transportation @matt_ubelhor, @SeawayUSDOT Administrator Mike McCoshen, port leadership and the team that makes it all happen every day. The Great Lakes are open for business — and Indiana is leading the way. Today is #DayOfTheSeafarer 🚢 and this year's theme hits close to home: "Carrying world trade. Carrying the risks." Seafarers are responsible for moving more than 80% of global trade by volume. Think about that for a moment. Nearly everything we use, build, or sell has touched a ship at some point in its journey. At Ports of Indiana, our three ports on Lake Michigan and the Ohio River are tenant ports, meaning the businesses operating here rely directly on the movement of goods across the water. When maritime workers do their jobs well, our tenants thrive. When supply chains hold, communities benefit. That connection is real, and it starts with the people on the water. To the seafarers and maritime workers who keep global trade — and ports like ours — moving: we see you, we appreciate you, and we're grateful for everything you carry. Thank you. 💙 #DayOfTheSeafarer #CarryingWorldTrade #PortsOfIndiana #MaritimeIndustry #Seafarers
