@Positively_Spun @Astro_Kutryk Indeed you do. The pool is 40 feet deep and the pressure inside the suit adds another 10 feet to the dive profile.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to provide operational medical support to two @csa_asc astronauts, @Astro_Jeremy and @Astro_Kutryk. They were simulating a @Space_Station spacewalk (EVA) underwater in the @NASA_Johnson Neutral Buoyancy Lab.

@AerospaceDr @Astro_Kutryk Out of interest, @AerospaceDr, do you account for the external pressure from the water in addition to suit pressure in terms of PIO2 cf. true EVA and vice versa in terms of dive tables etc?

Once inside their Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU), the astronauts will pressurize their suits to 4.3 psi (sea level pressure = 14.7 psi) & breathe an enriched oxygen & nitrogen gas mixture, which allows them to stay underwater for hours without risking decompression illness
