Voice actress and singer Sumire Uesaka is set to make her professional wrestling debut at Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling's 29 March event at Ryogoku Kokugikan -and the road to the ring began with a very public act of violence. On 10 March, Uesaka carried out an attack on Representative Tetsuya Koda outside Shinjuku Takashimaya in scenes that drew inevitable comparisons to Tiger Jeet Singh's infamous 1973 assault on Antonio Inoki. It turns out the comparison was no coincidence. Uesaka is a devoted student of Showa-era pro wrestling, and Singh is the reason she fell in love with it in the first place. It was his entrance theme, Saber Tiger, that first pulled her in - and from there, she found herself captivated by his visuals, his unwavering commitment to villainy and his wars with Antonio Inoki and the Strong Style wrestlers of the era. She spoke warmly about the larger-than-life monikers given to the foreign wrestlers of that period - The Mad Tiger of India, The Unsinkable Battleship, The Human Mountain - likening them to anime characters brought to life. Remarkably, Uesaka is not of that generation. She discovered the footage on YouTube around the time she finished middle school, drawn in by the electricity of the crowds and the brilliance of the live commentary. The tag matches involving Singh and Umanosuke Ueda left a particular impression, as did Inoki's famous tongue-out fainting incident against Hulk Hogan. Now she steps into the ring herself. Whether history repeats itself in ways she would rather it didn't, remains to be seen. What is certain, however, is that Uesaka brings something equally valuable to TJPW: an audience. With close to a million combined followers across Instagram and X, her debut has the potential to cast a spotlight on the promotion far beyond its traditional fanbase. When Crimson Desert gets scored low, journos are corrupt or can't play games all of a sudden.
I think most game journos aren't gamers and taking money from Sony, but the double standards are real.

They made the final Wapol fight a standard "hivemind" trope.
Yet I never hear any complaints about these things. Only Sanji talking to Nami, Vivi's race swap, and Nami fighting more. 🤔
