Re: Fog of war, To me that's not clear enough to confirm it's a Tomcat. Not saying it's not plausible but it's still relying upon the source of that video and whoever claims to have seen it IRL. Unless there's clearer/closer video of course. And with AI, even then it could be a fake if it was a clear and close shot. I'm not experienced enough to make even a moderately authorative analysis of a distant plane spotting video on the internet though. I just know how they work lol.

These average ~$2M/pop replacement cost. Compare with the equivalent 1000lb GBU-32 JDAM at $84k (24x). The meaningful difference is 500nm range (standoff distances) vs 15nm range for the glide bomb. This is the tradeoff made when there is zero air superiority.

Yeah I assumed that the military would have catalogued every such asset and given them top priority. I knew they had missile silos that were perfectly camouflaged but it's hard to hide a large opening for aircraft. I also assumed we have enough precision ballistic missiles to take those things out. Now that I think about it, it's even more unusual they'd choose not to even attempt stealth bombing runs. I mean if they can deploy aircraft they can absolutely deploy their S and MRBMs so again, you'd think these targets are priority 1. And if they had been deploying stealth bombing runs (B and F aircraft) at least one or two would have been taken out. It's just an odd combination of not taking this seriously but also leaving themselves wide open because they don't want to risk their stealth aircraft looking vulnerable. But if there really is an F14 in the air. It's proof there's a glaring hole in the narrative. Those birds are not easy to loft. They need highly functional airbase logistics systems. And if there are still those systems functional means theres a gigantic strategic or tactical weakness that few are talking about. There's a lot of information in a single F14 spotted flying.
