@mikemcintyrewpg As a goaltender, I have never understood this arguement. And it just isn't true. Did Helle ever play in a back to back situation? I don't believe he did. I do agree Comrie should have played more, but not to rest Helle, he should have played cause he deserved to.

I don' t necessarily blame Hellebuyck. As I've written countless times recently, I think the #NHLJets have run him into the ground. He's playing way too much -- especialy with Eric Comrie as a solid backup option. Tonight is 20 of 22 games, most of them high-pressure.

@StonyOil No I don't. I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. I am saying it wouldn't make any significant difference for any goaltender. Your pictures aren't what a human eye sees in real time.

The irradiation illusion can be seen really well here, especially low blocker It takes longer for humans to process the borders of white objects, light and dark are processed through different pathways of the brain.. If you’re off angle in dark pads shooters identify it faster

@StonyOil I think that you are relying on a very thin margin. Just not realistic in any meaningful way.

@Potsy38 I hope this is sarcastic.. Giving shooters more processing time to pick their spots doesn’t mean they will for sure execute, if he’s on his angles and not scrambling he will be able to play well no matter what gear he wears It’s about minimizing the mistakes..

Starting to think the #nhljets dont even trust their own development process because they had lambert, chibrikov and yager, 3 pretty high prospects and thought we need 35 year old coming off a 20 point season to play top 6 because no way one of these guys hits

@22TMarshall And...the only game 97 played less than 22 mins was the Sea game where they were up 2 most of the way. The ice times haven't been a whole lot different. The way they have played has.

@Potsy38 It is though. McDavid playing 19-22 last few. As opposed to 26-27 - no one getting 5-6 mins.. everyone up at double digits. By all means, play your stars.. but, running stars into exhaustion isn’t a recipe for sustained playoff success. Need them in game 6’s and 7’s

With the Oilers being successful with Leo out, it speaks success that the coach is getting more people involved, engaged and confident as opposed to running 97/29 into the ground and others wondering when they might get their next shift.

@22TMarshall Right, because they have not been playing from behind in the last few. And where does it say that 25 min a game runs 97 into exhaustion? Those games he played those minutes he was very effective in the last couple minutes. He has no trouble with the load.

@StevenGWalton This just isn't true. Other than distributing 29's ice time, it hasn't changed much. Players are competing harder without the puck and making better decisions with the puck.

Oil are 5-2 without Leon. It’s a shame that it took that for everyone to get ice time and be given an opportunity to impact the game.
