Let’s talk bulking, specifically a slow lean bulk. The physiological ceiling of accruing actual lean tissue is ~0.25~0.5#/wk, and that’s in near perfect conditions. Even when everything is fully dialed, most people are realistically accruing on the lower end of that range. This is why the target rate of gain is ~0.5#/wk, max ~0.75#/wk, in the aggregate. Beyond that, you’re not accelerating muscle gain, rather you’re accelerating non-productive weight (aka water/bloat and fat). Lets examine my current bulk, currently 36 weeks in: Fasted bodyweight, from 179.7# ~7% to now 202.6# >11%. Avg weekly rate of gain 0.64#/wk, yielding ~0.37#/wk LBM (lean tissue + water + glycogen). Everything fully dialed: zero cheat meals, zero missed cardio (~120 min/wk), zero missed lifts (5x/wk), avg 12k steps/d, nearly all cals as nutrient dense real food. Takeaway: Start lean (after a slow, non-aggressive cut to 10% or lower) to maximize bulk runway. Then execute a controlled surplus while keeping everything dialed.

Guys I need some help. Has anyone that was diagnosed with sleep apnea and got a cpap, eventually lost weight and started having side effects from the cpap? Before going on vacation I lost a little weight, then while on vacation I didn’t use the cpap because I forgot to pack the power cord (on top of grabbing the wrong passport, I was so stressed with work and other things), and then I lost more weight that weight. So total 12lbs down from when I got diagnosed with sleep apnea. After being back, three nights of using the cpap again, and I started feeling lethargic during the day and it got worse as the days passed. Last night I didn’t sleep with the cpap and today I feel normal. My doctors office is closed today, I’ll call Monday. But curious to how others navigate this when it comes to bulking and cutting.

This is my main complaint with the bodybuilding community. They’re oblivious there are dozens of sports out there and each one requires its own specific training. Training like a bodybuilder is only good for training like a bodybuilder. And you also need dope in your bum.

One thing the bodybuilding industry doesn't understand is not everyone is is training specifically for hypertrophy and although this may come as a surprise to some of you I don't always train to failure. I'm 53. I want to train for longevity and I want to recover better.⬇️

“You can build significant muscle on anabolics with zero training.” Everyone who’s followed me for a while knows I’m quite critical of steroid use when training and nutrition isn’t nailed first. That said, this entire post is just anti-steroid, and frankly anti-bodybuilding propaganda. It’s not just incorrect, it’s completely false. I spent 32 years in the gym and have seen many guys who use anabolics for a long time, lift 4 times a week, but still look like shit. And I’ve never come across anyone who’s on gear, never goes to the gym, but looks like he trains and makes progress. The real question is: does the author actually believe this, or if he knows it’s wrong but post it anyway?

For most high level bodybuilders 70% of their built muscle mass is purely from drugs And they would have it even if they didn’t lift. This shows you why some bodybuilders can have horrible training and still be massive

Named executor of a family member’s estate. Did EXACTLY as the deceased requested. Whole family turned against me. Worst year or two of my life. Got sued, berated, threatened and fucked with to no end. At my whits end I started to pray. Asked for guidance. Am I doing the right thing? Did my Uncle make the right choices in his will? A little over 4 years ago I considered myself an Atheist. After seeing a few different perspectives and watching the world, I definitely came to feel that there was something “more”. I moved into Agnosticism. As I continued to watch and grow, my values and perspectives came to align with Christianity. Although I still didn’t believe some of the stories of miracles that Jesus performed, my beliefs and mentality came to support Christianity above all others. To the point that I would fight by their side if need be. The pain that I have endured these past 6 months have taken me further than I have ever been before.. They say I have to die inside to be reborn, and that’s exactly what it’s felt like.. Even so, I hold on to this tiny thread of hope that’s it’s not too late.. I pray every day for help, for guidance, for the strength to hold on, but most of all I pray that I’m not too late..

Confession: No I'm not only testosterone. - HCG 250 IU Mon/Wed/Friday (keeps the testes and downstream hormones alive) - DHEA/Pregnenolone 25/10 mg morning, 25/10 mg evening (DHT and neurosteroids) - Aromasin 6.25mg weekly (keeps estrogen in my sweet spot) - Daily injections at 22mg/day (no peaks, more stability) Testosterone was the foundation. But estrogen out of range was likely issue #1. Neurosteroids on the low end of the reference range don't help. If you're on TRT for more than 6 months you might find yourself struggling with mood, libido, or erections. Get your estrogen and neurosteroids checked and treated.

I recently ran into some interesting cases of overtraining from going to failure too often with older dudes. Guys all had chronic low cortisol. Paradoxically, sustained sympathetic nervous system drive can lead to chronic low cortisol, making you feel like dogshit. Time off and keeping some reps in reserve fixed the issue in all of them.
