This weekend at the Republican Convention, something happened that perfectly shows how intense and ugly this CT-5 battle has become. After months of smears, false accusations, and personal attacks, including outrageous claims trying to label me something I am not, tensions boiled over near our campaign area with Chris Shea’s wife and a member of his staff. Instead of allowing delegates and voters to focus on the issues facing Connecticut families, political emotions spilled into unnecessary confrontation and insults directed at our team in an apparent attempt to provoke a reaction. But here’s what matters most: We stayed disciplined. We stayed calm. We stayed focused on the mission. Out of respect for the Convention, the delegates, and the integrity of the process, we requested assistance from the Sergeant-at-Arms to de-escalate the situation and keep things orderly.
