🇬🇭 Ghana – Fuel Price Reduction. Trying to summarize the key issues for a 1 minute read.
• Government reduces fuel prices for 1 month
– Petrol ↓ GHS 0.36
– Diesel ↓ GHS 2.00
• A helpful relief given rising energy costs induced by geopolitical tensions
• Reductions come from margins, not taxes
– Important because fuel taxes are earmarked for key public debt management, which must be fixed ASAP
• The reduction is temporary
– Margins expected to return in 4 weeks, regrettably.
• Core concern:
– These margins lack clear economic justification and nothing will happen if they don’t come back.
– They persist mainly for political economy reasons
• Cost paradox, eg:
– It cost more to move fuel within Ghana than to import it from Europe
– we pay ~ GHS40m a month to mark products for identification and tax optimization. But the mark is on the market to undermine that intervention
• Transparency issues:
– No clear data on how margins are used. Good luck with an RTI to NPA or BOST
– Unclear contracting and beneficiaries
• Effectively, these margins act like a hidden tax for the powerful
• Policy alternative:
– Make reductions permanent and extend to Petrol
– Convert THOSE margins into transparent tax revenue over time
• Potential upside:
– Could generate GHS 12–16 billion annually, enough to double infrastructure commitments and remodel resiliency of the country again oil price shocks.
• Bottom line:
– Current system constitutes revenue leakage and weak accountability
– Reform would improve transparency and public trust
We need the media to help have robust conversation on all the margins and ask for justifications for their impositions.
A temporary return of what’s stolen from the people is NOT grace.

@TCNetwork Muslims do NOT love Jesus.
Jesus said, "if you love Me, keep my commandments."
Muslims do not keep the commandments of Jesus.
English

The people in charge don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.
Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.
Today's Morning Note newsletter covers Masoud Pezeshkian's condemnation of Trump's “desecration of Jesus,” the Iran War's gutting effects on America's housing market, Colombia's plan to murder Pablo Escobar's hippopotami, and more. Read below.

Your brain can’t tell the difference between reading about running and actually running. The same brain cells fire either way. Neuroscientists at Emory University proved this by scanning people’s brains for 19 days while they read a novel over 9 nights. Every single reading session changed the brain’s wiring. And those changes lasted five days after the book was finished.
A book physically changes you. Your brain treats the characters’ experiences like your own memories. The regions that light up when you feel someone else’s pain, when you process language, when you physically move your body, all fire while you’re sitting there turning pages.
A Yale study tracked 3,635 people for 12 years. Book readers had a 20% lower risk of dying during the study compared to people who didn’t read. Even 30 minutes a day was enough to show a survival advantage. And this held across every demographic. The researchers controlled for age, income, race, education, existing health conditions, and depression. The survival advantage came specifically from books. Magazines and articles didn’t produce the same result.
Charlie Munger helped turn Berkshire Hathaway into a 20,000-to-1 return over his career. He had a line that stuck with me: “I constantly see people rise in life who are not the smartest, sometimes not even the most diligent, but they are learning machines. They go to bed every night a little wiser than they were when they got up, and boy does that help, particularly when you have a long run ahead of you.”
His kids said he was “a book with a couple of legs sticking out.” He read across science, psychology, physics, history, and economics, and built an entire investment system out of ideas he found in those books. He died at 99. Berkshire returned 2,000,000% under his and Buffett’s watch.
A bouquet of books might be the only gift that rewires someone’s brain, adds years to their life, and could contain an idea that changes the entire direction of how they see the world.

@PreacherEli @mrhighfoster It wasn't but the earth somewhat fixed itself
English

Let me give you examples...
You see, when the sun gets too hot, Earth makes more clouds to cool herself down, more like pulling up a blanket.
Even fungi under the ground chat with each other in giant networks, sharing news about water and food across whole forests.
After big disasters (like when the supposed giant asteroid hit long ago), Earth slowly fixed everything. New plants grew, oceans cleaned up, and new animals appeared. She remembered how to stay just right for life.
And when people make too much smoke, parts of Earth (like forests and oceans) try to suck it up and balance things again.
.
.
.
So some scientists are saying this teamwork makes Earth act intelligent. Not thinking like you or me with words, but smart like a whole planet that senses problems, remembers, and fixes herself to keep all her living beings safe and happyyy

This afternoon, the High Court dismissed Chairman Wontumi’s submission of no case in The Republic v Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Kwame Antwi & Akonta Mining Company Ltd.
This means two things:
(1) That our illustrious State Attorneys have proven the allegations in the case, and (2) that if Chairman Wontumi fails to give a sensible explanation to the accusations, he will be convicted and punished.
The Court has since directed him and his Akonta Mining to explain their side of the story (if they have any explanations) by calling witnesses (if they have any witnesses to call).

@CurlingR2 No terms and conditions supercedes the law of the land. That is why a contract can be voided by the court if it goes against the laws of the land.
The only remedy for recovering a loan is the court. They can the direct that properties be sold to recover the debt.
English

You people talk as if terms and conditions are a joke to you guys. Next time they should just come with police and contract terms and take her into custody for how long they want to make it simple

I don't know who needs to hear this, but GET UP. Ask God to breathe His spirit back into you. You've been lying dormant for far too long. Ask Him to restore your creativity, your purpose, your joy, your love, your health, and your sound mind. You've slept long enough in depression, anxiety, overthinking, bitterness, loneliness, grief, brokenness, financial stress, abandonment wounds, relationship trauma, and destructive habits. Today is the last day. GET UP! Get up for your future self. Get up for your kids. Get up for the dreams God placed inside you. Get up and take your life back.

When someone is shouting too loud before a battle starts they are not interested in actually winning a war but drawing attention to themselves.
Those who are truly effective move in silence they don't want too much attention because they know their success depends largely on planning in silence.
Jesus wasn't drawn to public acknowledgement nor applause. He wanted his true identity hidden only that his impact be felt.
In this age of social media where the noise is loud. Those who understand and practise meditating in silence to hatch flawless plans and to execute without others seeing will be precious.

If you think Joseph was imprisoned just because he resisted her, read her first sentence.
We usually treat this story like a basic lesson on resisting temptation. Joseph runs away, stays honest, and keeps his integrity. That’s all true. But we don’t spend enough time talking about what happens after he does the right thing.
You could have ten years of perfect performance reviews. You’re the first one in the office and the last to leave. You’ve built a reputation as someone who doesn’t cut corners. People trust you. Your name commands attention in the room.
Then someone with more power decides to tell a different story about you.
In a single conversation, your ten-year track record suddenly feels vulnerable. The atmosphere changes. People start looking at you through the lens of an accusation instead of the person they’ve known. You realize something painful; that integrity does not always protect you when the other person controls the narrative.
That is the real tension in Genesis 39.
The Bible is careful to show how much Potiphar trusted Joseph. He put everything under his authority. Scripture even tells us Joseph was “handsome in form and appearance.” When Potiphar’s wife pursued him day after day, Joseph refused. He spoke from loyalty; “How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?” he said.
Then he ran, leaving his garment in her hand.
But see what happens next
She called the men of the house and said, “See, he has brought among us a Hebrew to laugh at us.” She did not say “Joseph.” She did not say “the overseer.” She said, “a Hebrew.” When she spoke to her husband, she repeated it; “The Hebrew servant, whom you have brought among us…”
Think about that for a moment…
In one sentence, she pulled him out of his position and placed him back in his class. Suddenly he is no longer a trusted manager or faithful servant, just “a Hebrew”; an outsider. The coat in her hand became evidence, and the “Hebrew” label became the lens.
When Potiphar heard his wife’s words, scripture says his anger burned. the Bible doesn’t record Joseph saying a single word to defend himself. He didn't argue his case. Genesis 39:20 simply says Potiphar took Joseph and put him into the prison.
Now, Egyptian law usually meant execution for this kind of thing. The fact that Joseph only got prison suggests Potiphar might have had doubts, or maybe he was just trying to save face. We are not told. What we are told is that Joseph did everything right and still ended up in a cell.
That's a lot to process. He refused, ran, honored God, and he still lost his position and reputation in a single afternoon.
Imagine sitting there, the whole thing replaying in his mind; the offer, refusal, shouting, footsteps and anger. You did exactly what God wanted, and instead your reward was a dungeon and a ruined reputation. Nobody is clapping for you. There’s no big "thank you" for your obedience.
And you know what, God didn't stop the lie.
He didn't strike the woman or burn the house down to prove Joseph was innocent. He let the injustice happen. Only after Joseph is locked away the Bible says, "But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love".
Joseph’s story proves that obedience isn't a strategy to get the outcome you want. It is a decision about who you will be when the outcome turns against you. That kind of faith does not look impressive. It looks like waking up in a place you don't deserve to be and refusing to let bitterness take over.
You might be looking at your situation, waiting for "the truth" to come out so you can get your life back. but Joseph’s time in prison suggests your identity isn't found in being proven right, but in the fact that God is with you. He doesn't leave when your name is dragged through the mud.
When doing the right thing costs you your reputation, who are you if no one ever clears your name?

@citizenyao I don't think we need a driver's hospital. We can have rest stops along major highways which will help them generate more IGF. We can have infrastructure that directly supports driver's.
Even if the hospital is needed, it must not be situated in Accra.

I watched the DVLA Boss on TV3 today, and I am truly impressed by the achievements of the Authority.
Parliament approved DVLA to generate over GHS 500 million in Internally Generated Funds (IGF), yet the Authority ended the year with over GHS 900 million in IGF, while recording an operational cost of about GHS 388 million. Based on these figures, my projection is that DVLA may declare over GHS 300 million in surplus for the year end 2025.
Considering this strong financial performance, it is both logical and reasonable for the DVLA Board to approve the construction of a Drivers’ Hospital for the Authority. As a citizen, I fully support this initiative, as it will help reduce the deficit in healthcare infrastructure across the country.
When the DVLA began opening new offices and creating jobs for the youth, I initially wondered how the Authority was financing these expansions. It has now become clear that DVLA has performed exceptionally well and is positioned to do even better this year, with the potential to create even more jobs.
The Chief Executive is just 37 years old and has delivered remarkable results. A significant increase in workers’ salaries would therefore not be unreasonable at all.
Kudos to the DVLA board, management and staff 🙌🏾🙌🏾

The problem of Nigeria can be seen in the quotes. They refuse to hold their actors to account. They will blame everyone except the very people who cause them their woes. Look at their governance.
