North Dakota State is in serious discussions with the Mountain West to join the conference as a football-only member for the 2026 season, a source tells @CBSSports.

The Mountain West could secure North Dakota State as a football only member as soon as this weekend, to begin playing in the 2026 season. Would be a huge boon for the MW, and NDSU could become a contender for a CFP spot immediately. Bison are 9-5 against FBS programs.

I will be shocked if @CoachTJohansen is not an FBS head coach in the near future. Elite mindset and a builder.
