@TorresOnUK He was rated too highly. False expectations. It happens. He didn’t perform well. It’s not about “he didn’t have enough time”. You have to play well in the minutes you get.

Well this is not ideal: Jasper Johnson's uncle speaks out on social media about fans, his role and lack of playing time. Not wishing anything upon anyone, but wouldn't expect to see Jasper back in Lexington next year

@GregNJ Agree to disagree. A 5 (7) year stretch doesn’t diminish the program. Because it’s not about a snapshot. Every decade Kentucky is in the hunt. We will be again.

Average program before Pitino showed up. Rick leaves; pretty average program until Cal arrives. Now, an average program again. It’s time to retire the “we are Kentucky” stuff and we’re too good for certain coaches or way of doing things. 1 title 4 Final 4’s in nearly 30 years 🤷‍♂️

@DenimBlueCats @Prestige4lyfe @WallStreetJohnl I’m not sure we can be certain they don’t speak anymore, unless you know them personally. I assure you it isn’t that deep, just sad. “I think you need to step away, man” isn’t being “pushed out” to me. Maybe it is, but out of respect for Robic I feel we should leave it there.

I don’t think we talk about this enough but John Robic leaving in 2021 changed this program and it seems like no one realized the impact it had… that man was Cals everything when it came to game plan, scouting, and film and it all changed after his departure number back it up.

@AndrewStefaniak Offseason doesn’t matter. I don’t care if he has a roster of walk-ons. But get us to the E8 or farther.

@JerrodBaker1 We have millions of fans. Other schools have thousands. Our 1% is bigger. That’s a fact. And that 1% are pure idiots.

@CameronWaddle I think it’s a great argument. He isn’t saying we did great, job done. He said we are making progress. We weren’t there. But we are better than we were the last four years. Give him time. Support him.

When I first saw this, I had one immediate thought. Why are you comparing yourself to the version of a previous coach that was essentially shoved out? Those four years you’re referring to were the worst years of a coach who had quite the pedigree at the school already, so doing slightly better than that is still not okay. That man had won a national championship, and made four final fours before having that ending. I love Mark Pope and think he means well by the argument, and is trying to back himself up, but it’s not a great argument at all. I still have hope that he can turn it around and get it going in the right direction, and I know he has to at least give us something from the show, but we don’t need that slight progress answer imo. Tons of noteworthy things from the show last night, highly recommend giving it a listen!
Buddy 🏀😼@BigBlueBud

This is a long video but it’s essentially Pope’s full defense of the job he’s done at Kentucky and his total argument for how we can know he will be successful going forward. I think it’s the most reassuring thing he’s said this entire season. #BBN

@Cincitucky1 Commenting on the game, or a players performance is fine. But I have seen a lot of posts with “F” this player, and “you suck”. That is not ok, over peformance. I get it at JQ. And I got it about Sharpe. But players that try shouldn’t be attacked.

I’ve been a very negative and bad fan lately but it’s becoming increasingly clear the toxicity of the fanbase is SIGNIFICANTLY hurting Kentucky Basketball.

This quote should be a fireable offense

Pope on how injuries affected the team's scheme: "J Lo is a left handed point guard, so we made a cautious decision last spring when we secured his services, that we were going to change the orientation of everything that we did on the court to serve a left handed point guard. You might say, why does that matter? With a bunch of things. One, it actually suits a right handed big extremely well in a lot of ways. And point guards and bigs work together a lot in a general pick and roll. If you have a point guard that comes off the ball screen to his left, you get to have a big man that's rolling to his right. It's way more effective than what you traditionally have, which is trying to serve a right handed point guard, rolling to his going to his right, and a left handed big trying to roll and finish with his left. So you get straight trying to finish a right handed, yeah, a right handed point guard, and then you have a right handed big trying to finish with his left. You get both guys working their strong hand. Really, really important. And we changed the orientation of everything we did on the offense. We got all the way to the blue, white scrimmage. We lose J Lo, but we said, hey, we're going to keep it this way, because we're going to get them back. And we did get them back. And then it was just this, you know, by the time we got to, you know, through St John's to January, find like, you know, this is going to be really he finally decided to have surgery. "

I’ll say this one last time: it’s Pope’s fault for taking a chance on someone coming off a major injury like that. He gambled, and it didn’t work out.

@PapawWashington I’m all in on Pope. I liked the speech. I didn’t like this year. Let’s see what happens. It was STILL better than Cal’s last 4. As crazy as that is.

My take on the pope interview is that I don’t care🤷‍♂️ We know how you feel, you know how we feel, you’re getting a 3rd year for better or worse… So just go do the thing and stop talking, I don’t need speeches and I don’t need explanations, I just need results or I need changes.

Revisionist history has completely shifted the views of many people when it comes to the ending of the John Calipari era in Lexington. Here is a clip from @mostlysports a couple years back after we fell to Oakland. It’s a rant from @clubtrillion, a former Ohio State Buckeye basketball player, and a guy who has no affiliation with Kentucky or Calipari. These are his thoughts and it’s truly what the state of the program was at the time. Two total postseason wins since 2020 with him, one in SEC tournament and one in NCAA tournament. I will forever love John Calipari, and he’ll likely forever be my favorite coach, but it was over at Kentucky. Whether you want to blame it on him, administration, others, doesn’t matter. He’s doing well at Arkansas, but his time at Kentucky was done. I just don’t get how people have forgotten what the end of his time here was like. Yes, he gave us one of the best runs in College Basketball history in his prime at Kentucky, but the ending was far below the standard in Lexington.

It wasn’t a slump, it was constant regression. There were things outside of wins and losses that showed the end of it too. Being at Arkansas gave him new energy and a chip on his shoulder, something he didn’t have at the end of his time in Kentucky. We knew this would happen, but it was time for Kentucky to get rid of him.

@CameronWaddle @mostlysports @clubtrillion You don’t run a HoF coach off because of a slump while the entire landscape of the sport is changing. He built up enough equity to figure it out. Turns out he was close. Even the years we got upset we were a 2 and 3 seed. You get through those they probably go on a run.

Multiple things are true: 1. Kentucky will NEVER lose its standard and BBN should never stop demanding it 2. The results of this season were NOT acceptable 3. Pope is going to be back, along with several returning players 4. BBN should 100% get behind them and support them
