Mr Edirisa Musuuza (aka Eddy Kenzo) should be vociferously congratulated and not ridiculed.
The public backlash against Mr Edirisa Musuuza’s appointment as “The Senior Presidential Advisor on the Creatives”, is nothing more than elitist/classist mass disdain for people who aren’t as educated as them; at least in their eyes.
It’s a schizophrenic frenzy informed by a need to put down someone so they feel elevated.
It’s a cry for help in a miserable cesspool of extreme mediocrity and unfulfilled potential.
People have been dealt a hard one by the system and are taking it out on anyone and everyone.
It’s hard to blame them for what seems like a normal, visceral human reaction to despair. And that’s what it really is; despair.
Objectively, President @KagutaMuseveni couldn’t have found a more qualified candidate for that docket.
In a country where citizens have criticized the President for picking journeymen and women like @RobinahNabbanja, @kyofakabuye2 et al and handing them dockets they’re barely qualified for, the appointment of Mr Kenzo is a breath of fresh air.
In his field and going by the international acclaim his peers and industry have bestowed upon him, it’s impossible to find a Ugandan artist/creative fit enough to lace the man’s boots.
To assess him on the number of degrees he has or hasn’t is to try to fit square pegs in round holes, something we keep criticizing The President for.
He’s not being nominated to head the government’s neuro science program. He’s being nominated to advise on a sector where he has demonstrated, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that he is peerless.
We should instead be congratulating President @KagutaMuseveni for making an excellent pick and hoping that he listens to his new advisor.
Just for context, here’s a list of some of Mr Edirisa Musuuza’s Nominations and Awards in his craft.
2011- Pearl of Africa Music Awards, Best New Artist
2014-Africa Muzik Magazine Awards; Best New Comer
2014-Channel O Music Video Awards; Most Gifted (East Africa)
2015- Black Canadian Awards; Best International Act
2015- Afroca Music Awards; Best Revelation Award
2015- BET Awards; Viewers Choice, Best New International Artist
2015-HiPipo Music Awards; Best Use of Social Media
2016-MTV Africa Music Awards; Best Live Act
2016-All Africa Music Awards; Best Afrixan Collaboration
2017-Tuma Music Awards; Artist of the Year and Best Male Artist
2017-All Africa Music Awards; Best East African Male Artist and Song of the Year
2018-Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards; Favorite African Star
2018-International Reggae and World Music Awards-Best African Entertainer
2018-Africa Music Magazine Awards; East African Artist of The Year
2018-Hollywood African Prestigious Awards; Best African International Artist
2022/23- Grammy Awards; Best Global Performance
Congratulations, Mr @eddykenzoficial! You have inspired thousands, especially those that our privileged, well educated citizens seemingly don’t consider deserving of a seat at the table.
Keep going, Sir!

I spent the afternoon in Mbarara where I commissioned the WoodCross Tin smelting Refinery, the first of its kind in Uganda. We are continuing in the right direction towards tackling the problem of ababaagyi (squanderers) of African wealth, abashema (uninformed) and traitors.
This is part of the NRM’s 5th point in the 10-point program; building a horizontally and vertically integrated economy, away from the inherited shame, betrayal, and economic hemorrhage of exporting raw materials and importing finished goods.
