Despite mounting pressure on Taoiseach Micheál Martin from the Irish public not to visit the United States which actively and consensually uses Ireland’s Shannon airport for violations of international law, including bombing Iran, he made the visit.

After Trump disses Starmer, Irish leader Micheál Martin jumps in to defend Starmer and encourages Trump to get along with him. Martin then pivots to defending Ukraine -- a country Trump also dissed earlier in the event.

What sparked the millions-strong uprising? Shop owners in Rasht’s historic market went on strike for a few days. Almost the whole city shut down, only a few pharmacies and grocers open. The regime warned: break the strike or we burn the market. Strikes continued. Then Islamic regime security forces surrounded the bazaar, set it ablaze with people trapped inside the flames. They shot anyone trying to escape. Hundreds of shops were burned and several dozen died. Reports say the smell of charred bodies lingered for hours. If you stayed quiet when this happened, don’t speak on behalf Iranians. We welcome the attacks on the regime.

Well said Larry, the annual celebration of Irish America is bigger than either the President or the Taoiseach @LarryPDonnelly That said we should if asked say we support the UN and international law but refuse to be drawn further, we are here today to celebrate 32 million Irish Americans and America’s enduring relationship with Ireland over the past 250 years etc

Team CGNY is delighted to welcome Taoiseach @MichealMartinTD to Philadelphia for the start of his #StPatricksDay Programme. In the first stop the Taoiseach laid a wreath at the Irish Memorial in Philadelphia honouring those who fled Ireland during the Famine, and later helped to build the city of Philadelphia. Their resilience and contributions to this great city laid the foundations for the deep friendship Ireland has with Pennsylvania.
