Over the past weekend, at University Hospital Galway, we had a once in a year event: a patient who needed chemotherapy compounded out of hours. Our Chief Pharmacist (the most senior pharmacist in the hospital), and one of our senior pharmacists (I’ll let both tag themselves if they would like to be identified!), came to the aseptic unit at 9pm on Saturday night to prepare the chemotherapy. They were not “on call”. They are just very good colleagues, pulling out the stops, to deliver a top class service for a patient in need. @eHealthIreland @frthompson Just my opinion, but current developments in technology have been fantastic; however, if we are not developing technology to meet the needs and expectations of the service users then we face an uphill battle to achieve acceptability and indeed sustainability!
