TMU nutrition professor Nick Bellissimo’s findings could be a game-changer for people looking to manage blood sugar levels. torontomu.ca/news-events/ne…
Encouraging news for people with diabetes: A new study by @NutritionTMU‘s @ProfBellissimo used a simulated digestive tract to show that for every 1g of allulose added to a dish, the degree to which glucose spikes also reduced by 1%. ow.ly/Qxqc50T6ohB
@_deepfire@BenBikmanPhD@RxSugar Agreed. Human studies assessing both glucose and insulin and other hormones are underway by a few research groups. I am looking forward to these forthcoming publications.
@BenBikmanPhD@ProfBellissimo@RxSugar Glucose reduction is neat -- but what about allulose's impact on insulin levels?
I'd estimate the latter to be more consequential.
Allulose really is a remarkable rare sugar, consistently being shown to reduce plasma glucose levels, including in this newly published report by @ProfBellissimo. @RxSugar
@BenBikmanPhD@RxSugar Thanks Ben for highlighting our paper. Our in vitro study showed a reduction of ~1% in postprandial glucose release from white rice for every gram of allulose tested. 40g of allulose had the most profound effect on blunting ppgr of ~35% compared to white rice alone.
