It is heart breaking. He just got his PhD from @UW Jackson School.

Hiam Katsman, former @UW student and Seattle native, has been abducted from his home in Kibbutz Holit in Israel by Hamas. Prayers needed.

@ProfSharona Salmon shark? I have a friend who lives in seaside who said juvenile salmon sharks have been washing up over the last few years.

Can anyone tell me what kind of shark this was? Washed up on Oregon coast. Maybe 5’ long.

@NeedhiBhalla In addition to this issue of valuing publications, I think a lot about who has access to high quality reviews. Researchers from non-R1 inst. have less access to critiques from experienced colleagues if their MSs don’t get sent for review.

Need advice: I am trying to bring a student from Iran to my lab in a VISIT visa. Although she has all the paperwork and bank statements to demonstrate she has required funds, the US embassy in Turkey denied her visa, saying they did not believe she had the funds. How can I help?
