Please do not call Elon Musk a fascist. He is not a fascist. He has simply endorsed a post arguing that universal suffrage causes "universal suffering", that the population must be divided into "makers" and "takers", and that "takers" should lose the right to vote. He replied "I have wised up". This is not fascism. It is simply the position that democratic participation should be contingent on economic productivity as defined by the ownership class. The richest man on the planet arguing that people who do not generate sufficient private wealth should be stripped of democratic representation is not an authoritarian position. It is simply a return to pre-1832 franchise politics, when only men of property could vote. The Chartists who fought and died for universal suffrage were clearly wrong about that one. The "makers and takers" framework is not fascist language. It is merely language that recasts the entire working population of every developed economy; every nurse, carer, teacher, cleaner, shelf-stacker, warehouse worker, bus driver, and pensioner; as parasites whose democratic voice threatens civilisation. This is a completely normal thing for the richest man in human history to believe. The argument that the franchise must be restricted to protect the productive class from the unproductive is not a fascist position. It is merely a position that every fascist and authoritarian movement in European history has held, from Mussolini's abolition of free elections to Salazar's Estado Novo, which tied voting rights to literacy and property, to Franco's Spain, where elections were abolished entirely for nearly four decades. But Musk is not a fascist. He is a "maker". A maker who built his empire on billions in government contracts, public subsidies, state-funded infrastructure, and tax incentives; funded, that is, by the very "takers" he now believes should not be allowed to vote. Do not call him a fascist. That would be rude.

David Friedberg predicts AOC will be President and says red states might leave the U.S. if she wins "I do predict AOC will be president. I would say AOC would be my front runner based on the extraordinary cost of living and wealth disparity. Those two things are going to continue to drive the socialist movement over the next 24 months." "And if AOC comes in and they bail out California and they federalize California's liabilities, you're going to see parts of this union, the red states... say, why should we be part of this union anymore?" "We don't want to pay for all of these liabilities that these blue states have accrued and that we are now being asked to bail out. And that is where I think you face a crisis of the union in the years ahead."

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani
Today marks 250 years since a small group of newspaper editors, farmers, and soldiers signed a document declaring our nation’s independence — a truth that feels self-evident now but was revolutionary then. What a privilege us Americans have, to live in a nation that every one of its inhabitants can shape. What an honor us New Yorkers have, to look out over our city’s waters from the shores where so many Americans bravely entered their country for the first time. Today and all days, let us remember that patriotism is not pretending our nation is without flaws. Patriotism is every act of righteous dissent — because loving our country means fighting for the best version of it. Happy Fourth of July, New York City.

This Mamdani-style anti-American chic that gets gushing reviews from self-hating upper class neurotics is just a revived late-sixties/early 70s fad that was boring and stupid then, and still is now
Bobby@bobbyness11

@mtaibbi I like you but like wtf you are clearly biased with Mamdani. I usually appreciate you calling balls and strike but you are not in his case. It’s really frustrating

Commentary Donald J. Trump Posts From Truth Social
𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗝. 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 - 𝟬𝟴:𝟬𝟯 𝗣𝗠 𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝟬𝟳.𝟬𝟯.𝟮𝟲 BIG NEWS! My Administration is delivering another fantastic America First Victory. The Department of Treasury will now accept philanthropic contributions of readily tradable Publicly Traded Stock to help fund TRUMP ACCOUNTS for eligible American children. This opens the door for GREAT American Businesses, Philanthropists, and Job Creators to invest directly in the future of our children, and help build a Generation of Savers, Investors, and Owners. The response to TRUMP ACCOUNTS has been incredible — More than 6 MILLION TRUMP ACCOUNTS have already been requested before the Program has even launched. The American People LOVE this idea because it puts America’s children FIRST, rewards Success, and helps build Wealth for the next Generation. The Golden Age of America is just getting started! President DONALD J. TRUMP

@rustyrockets After the Democrats just stole yet another election for the mayoral race in Los Angeles, @realDonaldTrump is probably right. We’ve lost control of our elections, and the Supreme Court was our last and best hope to fix that.

@AdamSinger We are in decline because of historic, world destroying inequality and poverty next to ridiculous excess. Everything stems from this fact. If you can’t acknowledge the true engine of societal decline you cannot begin to imagine how to fix it.

@ProfTWolf If were just this in isolation I might agree, but if you're watching what's going on with EU/UK pro degrowth politicians and their stance on infrastructure, A/C and energy use it's a rational fear we enter a period of decline, and we also have a political class in agreement

You can imagine one of two possible futures: one where everyone's AC must be connected to a centralized, state-controlled power grid which automatically rations usage during peak demand, or one we build enough capacity energy is too cheap to meter. Choose wisely, anon
