I’m working in Liverpool at present and staying up here at times instead of going back to Brighton each weekend. My wonderful wife decided to come up and stay with me as it was Valentine’s Day yesterday. Thought I would arrange a surprise and so managed to get a ticket in the away end at Anfield. She cried tears of joy*. Brighton lost 3-0 and now haven’t scored for 287 minutes which I suspect took the edge off the evening and was the reason she didn’t talk to me after the match. Even lent her my scarf as it was below zero and sleet and rain on the walk home. If this doesn’t earn me a husband of the year award from Mumsnet nothing will. * I think

@Footballfights Looks like the @Droylsden_FC Assistant manager was literally running for his life and threw that punch in self defence before they caught him. What on earth was the @BilstonTownFC player thinking of? I also so the video of the Bilston number 15 fighting. What disgraceful scenes!

Wonderful news for all at @LancasterUni as we’re named ‘University of the Year in the Northwest’ of England in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026 and we were placed in the Top 15 again in the whole of the UK.
