Proto Hologram

This week I had the pleasure of hosting the incredible actor Deep Roy at Proto Hologram HQ. If you’ve watched movies over the last few decades, you’ve almost certainly seen his work, even if you didn’t realize it. Deep famously played all 165 Oompa Loompas in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He’s also appeared as Yoda and R2-D2 in Star Wars, the snail rider in The NeverEnding Story, and dozens of other unforgettable characters across film and television. After showing him our live holoportation technology, I gave him a tour of the future of presence, including an interactive AI conversational avatar powered by Proto, where he spoke with William Shatner’s AI hologram. Watching a legendary performer who has spent his life creating movie magic experience real-time holographic presence was pretty surreal. And yes… we even got a little Oompa Loompa dance moment out of him. Some days running a hologram company still feels like science fiction. This was definitely one of them. BREAKING: Coimbatore, India | Los Angeles, CA, Feb. 20, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) On February 15th, the @ishafoundation invited the world to Mahashivratri at the Isha Yoga Centre (in Coimbatore, India) - one of the globe’s largest multi-cultural events and spiritual festivals, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors in person from over 100 countries, and approximately 140 million via global streaming - a larger audience than the Grammys or the Super Bowl. In addition to guided meditations with renowned Yogi Sadhguru, the 6pm - 6am all-night festival included nightlong musical and cultural arts performances. Yesterday at Mahashivratri in India, we dropped a few Proto Hologram displays at the Isha Yoga Center… and thousands of people lined up to take selfies with Sadhguru who wasn’t physically there. These were real selfies taken from Sadhguru’s iPhone using the viral Proto hologram selfie experience. I’m sharing 3 Instagram clips that together already have millions of views and thousands of comments. And honestly, they’re just a tiny sample bc I’ve counted hundreds of videos just like these floating around. Is this the moment the world starts realizing that presence is no longer physical? Watching this unfold at the largest spiritual gathering on Earth, with more than 250,000 people on site, was one of those rare “ok… this is kind of a big deal” moments. I was on Bloomberg's Open Interest a couple months ago and talked about a movie from the 90s. Since I watched Multiplicity (where Michael Keaton made copies of himself to get more done) I’ve wondered what would happen if that were real. Fast forward to 2025… it is real. I have multiple AI digital twins. They look like me. Sound like me. Think like me (well, at least the first two). Also, they are always available. Entrepreneurs can pitch their ideas to one of my digital twin 24/7 and get feedback on their business model. I can only take so many meetings. Only review so many decks. Only mentor so many founders. But my digital twin scales almost infinitely. This will go way beyond venture capital. The applications are massive. Of course, we expect problems. We have already had a few with authenticity, and the personality of the digital twin might be a little to LLM regulated and not enough Tim Draper authentic. Every major innovation comes with risks. We like to take those risks early so we have an early window on the opportunities. The founders who use these tools will move faster. We expect to generate better returns from the insights we gain from taking early risks on AI. I love exploring new technologies and throwing myself into it. And I'm literally doing that with AI.
