Santa Monica Small Business Soul I spent years in New Orleans as a nightclub security then manager, invested in bars, lounges, and diners, and worked in event planning and tourism in the City of New Orleans. That hands-on experience taught me exactly how the service industry works. It's built on relationships, creativity, and the people who show up every day to make a place feel alive. I was the person people called when they needed something to get done. If I couldn't get it done, I'd find someone who could, immediately. I didn't make businesses wait or guess who to speak to. We need to reverse course. Cut the red tape, lower the business license taxes and fees, and give our small operators room to breathe and thrive. Because when our local spots disappear, so does the character that makes this city worth visiting. I am deeply appalled and angry to see “Firework” used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes. I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it. I wrote this song to be an anthem of hope, healing, and inner strength for people going through their darkest personal moments. To see a message of self-worth and upliftment weaponized to soundtrack destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for. My music is for bringing people together, not celebrating warfare.

The Guardian says a study shows Greenland is losing 30 million tons of ice per hour. Sounds terrifying until you add scale. If, for argument's sake, we accept the questionable headline rate, that works out to roughly 263 gigatons lost per year. But Greenland holds 2.8 million gigatons, meaning total loss would take over 10,000 years. And the study itself adds important context. Much of its newly counted loss comes from glacier retreat in fjords where ice was already below the sea, so it does not raise sea levels in the way the headline implies. This is how climate fear works: Huge number. No denominator. No time scale. Just blind panic.

I am a California wildfire victim. Our family lost 2 houses. And we completely support how the Presiddidt is handling the fire aid situation. Trump won't release the money until California agrees to let the federal government administer it. That is key, because whenever our state gets large infusions of cash, the local NGOs (many of them Newsom/Pelosi/Harris buddies) steal the money...

DOJ civil rights chief Harmeet Dhillon is pledging a "broken windows" approach to illegal voting — meaning every single provable case gets prosecuted, no matter how small. The shift comes after New Jersey's governor revealed thousands of noncitizens landed on voter rolls through the state's motor-voter system. Dhillon says the old DOJ attitude of ignoring fraud unless it flipped an election outcome is dead: "That's not our attitude." Activists and local officials are feeding the DOJ leads. Election monitors have already been deployed to Arizona counties. And Dhillon is betting the New Jersey numbers are just the beginning — predicting California's figures are "orders of magnitude higher."

The fear that AI poses an "existential threat" rests on the idea that it will become conscious and develop goals of its own. But AI is not conscious. It has no desires or goals. It is no more—and no less—than a powerful tool we can direct toward increasingly complex objectives.

Having all these high-tech toys is great, but none of it would've stopped the Palisades or Eaton Fires. All they needed was a crew with shovels. If they'd cleared the grass under the power lines in Altadena, no Eaton Fire. If the staff at Topanga State Park or LAFD had cut a firebreak around the Lachman Fire, no Palisades Fire.
