Valued at over USD 300 million, this strategic investment stands among the largest industrial projects in Northern Uganda and signals growing investor confidence in the Karamoja sub-region. The facility, with a Phase I production capacity of over 6,000 tonnes of clinker per day, is expected to substantially boost domestic manufacturing capacity. The project is set to reduce Uganda’s reliance on imported clinker by more than 2.5 million tonnes annually, strengthening supply chains and supporting the country’s expanding construction sector. Increased local production is also expected to enhance price stability and improve accessibility of cement across the region. Beyond industrial output, the factory is already catalysing socio-economic transformation in Karamoja, creating jobs, stimulating local enterprise, and contributing to improved household incomes. The commissioning ceremony will bring together regional leaders, investors, government officials, private sector actors, and cultural institutions, reflecting a shared commitment to inclusive growth and regional development. This milestone highlights Karamoja’s steady transition into a viable investment destination, positioning the sub-region as an emerging pillar in Uganda’s broader economic transformation agenda. #OpenGovUg

Today, many youth spend a lot of time on social media but struggle with confidence, starting conversations, and forming meaningful relationships. Through sports, mentorship, and community-driven activities, we are creating spaces where youth can reconnect, build confidence, and truly belong.
