@SSIMagazine @ADT ADT is bragging that they will now try harder to call the correct Fire Dept in the event of a client alarm signal? Seems like a pretty low bar for service. Calling the wrong # isn’t much better than calling nooone. #security #wrongnumber

@pwaldkirch @fabulavancouver If it was me being asked to make a quick decision on a budget bigger than a phonebook inside of my first few weeks on a job where the entire management team involved in creating the budget in the first place had been fired, or were no longer around, my quick answer would be ‘no’.

@ProvidentMike @fabulavancouver Delay would cost the city a lot of money and throw planning into disarray. How much public money and resources should be squandered to allow for councilors who haven't done their homework? Or would delay really be about grandstanding for political reasons? twitter.com/fabulavancouve…

NPA Councillor Colleen Hardwick asking what the implications would be if delayed the budget approval by 90 days. CFO Patrice Impey says will delay getting revenue from utilities increase, delay being able to hire staff for key initiatives, etc.

Staffers going through a lot of budget details, answering councillor questions from past meeting, i.e. where is housing $, where is climate change $, etc.

@fabulavancouver Three rounds of questions, all over the ice, would appear to be a good reason to push this budget back. Nobody understands it. Way too much money for this much confusion. They’ve been on the job for just a few weeks. Seems completely unreasonable to expect them to vote in favour.

Now Stewart asks if people want to go into a third round of questions. Aand ... another round of questions coming.

So the @bcndp is going to "study" congestion solutions to the Massey Tunnel - meaning no bridge or tunnel until a business case is presented in late 2020. @keithbaldrey explains how politics have played a role in the transportation planning. @CKNW omny.fm/shows/steele-d…

@amoraexcyna @wanzerelli @AdrianeCarr @councillorwiebe Yes, show me the money too. That's the question you'd need to ask of your MLA. What is the school tax being used for: Site C? Modular Housing? LNG tax-breaks?.. is there a formula for remuneration based on where the tax is being extracted? Show me the money.

@JJofBC @christineeboyle You’re only a millionaire if, after subtracting all liabilities, there is still $1m left over. Someone w a $3m home may have $2.5m debt against it. Someone else w/ two $750k condos owns them free and clear. The millionaire escapes this tax. That’s the problem w this tax.

We're in a real housing crisis, folks. This #schooltax debate felt out of sync with the realities of that crisis. As I said in the debate, we need to build some perspective about who is struggling in this housing crisis and what that struggle looks like. thestar.com/vancouver/2018…

@christineeboyle Why does someone who owns three $2m homes free and clear get preferable treatment to someone who owns one ‘worth’ $4m, but only has $1m in equity? Or compared to a renter who chose to invest $ in stock market vs real estate? Having govt arbitrarily guess who has $ is dangerous

One of the biggest privileges of home ownership is the options that it provides - home owners have many more choices than renters: not just deferring this additional tax, but renting out part of your space, or selling and buying something worth less than $3M.

@TomDavidoff If city & prov keep stacking taxes on everyone in the middle, only ppl who will be able to afford a house will be ultra-wealthy who use YVR for a few weeks each year. Moving a $7M house to $6.3M isn’t an affordability win. Only way this tax is defensible is w income tax offset

Hey @CitizenYan -- love your platform.. you've built your brand on fighting bullying. How does this square with @kennedystewart's campaign manager Neil Monckton bullying & threatening private citizens over tweets? Twice we know about.. how many more? twitter.com/ianb/status/10…
Probably But Not Necessarily Ian Bell 🇨🇦@ianb

WTAF. @ProvidentMike is a private citizen and free to say whatever the hell he likes on Twitter about @kennedystewart. Threats of legal action are petty + unbecoming of democratic process. Stewart’s campaign manager has lost perspective + should resign. globalnews.ca/news/4548155/k…

@Betamax1080p @drex @kennedystewart Totally disagree. But again, that’s not the issue anymore. Kennedy Stewart has had a few days to figure out how best to respond. He has chosen the worst possible way. That should concern everyone thinking about who to vote for.

@Betamax1080p @drex @kennedystewart It was recorded because Monckton called me twice at my office, which is a security company, where 100% of calls are recorded. No intent to leverage, I wasn't expecting a threat. Also, the bigger issue here is the response to all this, not the original incident.

The insanity continues. I didn’t say what Stewart did was illegal. I said that when he bragged about his “full” list of supporters, he was lying. If he has union support, why hide it? His reaction is 100x worse than the original issue. #vanpoli #vanelexn18

The fracas surrounds a profanity-laden phone call between Monckton and Michael Jagger, a friend of NPA mayoral candidate Ken Sim and a volunteer on Sim’s campaign. trib.al/PtgGQsY
