I loved Japan when I went, but in general I won’t ever glorify any place, ever, because there’s always some weird shit going on pertaining to the safety of women and children.. practically no matter where you go in the world.

People like him would’ve enjoyed extrajudicial rights in those areas. For example, as a British national he it would’ve been legal for him to sell opium in the Shanghai concession area before 1858, and after that as a British national he would’ve had legal protection to sell opium in China.

Genuinely baffled as to why schools think this is any of their business. The overreach is staggering.
