It’s almost unheard of for a bill to be shut down at first reading - and we’ve now had two since the fall session began. That’s not how democracy’s supposed to work. The same folks shouting “free speech” over the Land Acknowledgment Prohibition Act won’t even let it be read and debated. The irony writes itself.

Appreciate this. Rustad's deputy COS, Ryan Painter, built (one of) his previous brands on being a mental health advocate. Does he condone Rustad's comments or is this like his stance on trans people, who he's happy to throw under the bus if it means he can rise the ranks?

Mental health is health. One in three British Columbians will experience a mental health issue at some point in their lives. These are our friends, our coworkers, and our loved ones. To weaponize or trivialize someone’s health condition, mental or otherwise, is harmful to those who already face stigma in silence. They should not need to struggle alone. We need to build a culture where people can seek help without fear of judgment or political spin. Leadership means showing compassion and restraint, even when the spotlight is on. I stand with all British Columbians who are struggling in silence with their mental health, and will continue to fight for a equitable and quick access to mental healthcare in BC.

@sarahblyth He killed Darcy Shepherd who many of us knew and knew of and he got off because of his political connections. As far as I know he did support harm reduction but even if he does a good job, the BCNDP might completely flip flop again. being cautious is justified.

Michael Bryant is a good listener. im happy for anyone coming to the DTES to help make a plan or give advice. We've had @ClaireRattee in the office and she's welcome back. Its time to put our heads together so we can help people. Michael Bryant spent time with Trey and I hope he learned a lot from Trey they shared a passion for recovery. The waiting time for some critical specialties is now over a year in BC. Cardiology, urology, orthopedics, neurosurgery. This is just to have an initial visit and get on to a waiting list for tests and even longer for surgery. Waiting years in pain is really not acceptable. Why are we doing worse than the national average? Why do we not have team based care? We can solve these problems and save money. We really can.
